oh yeah, they sure did. It's just the most bizarre thing, so many teachers took off Good Friday they can't safely operate the school district.

You have to know your school makeup. Not taking Good Friday off in area that is mostly Christian is dumb. Schools in the Northern Suburbs schedule around Jewish holidays and some schools in South Suburbs schedule around Muslim Holidays. District 230 around here is refusing to take off for a Muslim holiday during finals next school year. That will pose a problem as somewhere between a quarter to a third of the districts in that district are Muslim.

That's what Lake Zurich did but then they had to cancel school on Monday April 21 because so many teachers took THAT day off because they had to be at school on Friday, so I don't think it really has much to do with religious services and everything do with a vacation day. I grew up going to church more than almost anyone I knew and went to public school and Good Friday was never close to the level of importance it seemingly is today.

The last thing we need is another national holiday. Once the NFL goes to an 18 game schedule they can move the superbowl to the sunday of president's day weekend. That would take care of that.

once everything is privatized, national holidays will be irrelevant. Every day is a work day, especially labor day because who needs a union in this modern world

How many people get President's Day off? My company doesn't have that day as a holiday.

That is another reason why the idea of adding another federal holiday is dumb. Besides government employees, teachers, and bankers, who actually gets them off?

We need more real unions and less collectives of government employees calling themselves unions.

There's no such thing as collective bargaining with government. They have unlimited resources. No private entity can print money. The government was designed to be limited. It is now the opposite. Some like that, some don't, but the truth is the truth.
