I disagree that Shane was entertaining, but definitely agree that Laurence was always going to kill any 'collective'. Never made sense to have Laurence try to fit in an existing show structure, it went as well as him fitting in size 34 waist pants.

The story sounds like a case where Laurence has such a fun-sucking personality that Shane went on tilt as a response

Then again, Shane himself was always on edge of being fired due to his 'comedy', the Dan Proft bit was worse than what Bernstein did.

The “go kill yourself” meme is a board staple.

One of the last genuinely funny things on WSCR was Shane’s spot on Pat Mahomes impersonation.

He’d fit at barstool.

Spiegel just said "they parted ways".

So, it looks like it was mutual. Too bad they couldn't come to an agreement.

Spiegel needs a day before he can talk about Shane, Laurence said some fake bullshit about how much he cares about him and then quickly moved on.

It was phrased as "the Score and Shane have decided to part ways"

Best case scenario Shane starts telling stories about the Score because there is nothing worth listening to anymore over the air.

They could be lying

But if telling the truth, maybe it was a power struggle and Laurence Holmes doesn't need a 'producer'

For guest bookings, he has a (sticky) rolodex of protégé

He doesn't need chiming in from behind the glass, especially if not jibing with his own unique sense of humor

He does need audio help, so now Tannehill is overqualified to re-rack interviews Laurence did earlier in the week, they're veeery interesting

I agree this is a Holmes thing. Does anyone remember last week when Holmes said he dumped something because "you can't go there." I believe Shane said something, Laurence (not the producer) dumped it ... And I listened for any tension after but heard none. Still, I wonder if that's a something. The show was fun but Holmes never has been.

Read the prior posts….yes we know what happened. Unfortunately Barstool loses its second insider. There is only one left. But the hard work has been done as Bernsie was mission one, and the Holmes split was mission two. They won both. The rot is taking hold faster than expected. Portnoy wins as usual.

from the city's foremost Jason Goff correspondent, Jeff Agrest of the Sun-Times:

Quote:
His dismissal, which happened Monday, wasn’t related to a behavioral issue or anything he said on the air, the Sun-Times has learned.

Neither Riordan nor The Score returned requests for comment.

There’s definitely been some burning resentment over the past few weeks. Listen to the opening intros… Laurence introduces Tanny as the man who moves heaven and earth and creates the best sound ever imagined, and there’s Shane - wearing a hat. I wouldn’t wanna work with LOHO either.

Man that sucks. Parkins gone. Bernsie gone and now Shane. 670 just continues down the crapper.

I have no doubt bitch boy Larry had a role in this.

I honestly don't know why anyone would continue to listen to that station.

Parkins, Bernstein and Shane gone are three reasons to listen to the station.

It's odd for a corporate firing to occur on a Monday.

Shane loved playing on the score soft ball team. He was like the leader of that team. They could still let him play despite being fired I suppose.

I had to quit that show weeks ago because Laurence just couldn't help himself. The 'most enlightened takes in the room attitude' for basic things really added too much annoyance to the boredom.

Larry is a player manager. Did not think of this angle, that's the Beardown Difference :drunken:

No Goodfellas treatment and just a brief mention as they had to get to their Nico hit.

King Larry opened it up with the 'we can't really talk about it' disclaimer. Really backs up that 'mutual decision' explanation /s

Larry stayed with the company line that they mutually parted ways. Speigel referenced it as a "management decision"....wonder if that will get him in some hot water. It was clearly Shane being fired no matter how they want to spin it.

Which means that it was Larry’s call that Shane is gone. I didn’t realize he had so much power!

Larry is reading the Internet on the Shane issue. He was very specific that him and Shane did not get along early on, but that Shane did him a solid by inviting him to the softball team when he was at his lowest moment. Larry was making it clear that him and Shane were work friendly….
