I don't even understand why he feels he's been portrayed as a villain with Bernstein? He has nothing to do with it.

I suppose he did with the Barstool Eddie affair, but, like, Bernstein won that by getting Laurence off his show lol. I suppose I can see why Laurence would see it as some seismic event that demanded answers.

He didnt comment on Shane on the podcast, but he did comment on the air about Shane after it happened and talked about how he and Shane butted heads at first but it was because they were so much alike and how passionate they were about doing things right. And how much he grew to like Shane because Shane brought him out of retirement to play softball.

His commenting on Shane on the air and not on Bernsie just reinforces the fact that he cannot complain about being portrayed as a villain.

He's not a villian.

He's a gutless and calculating coward.

Those are all things that are on my mind.”

I suspect Laurence will say something along the lines of he gave serious consideration to several different opportunities that were presented to him (in media, academia, and the political arena) before deciding he will stay at WSCR because he cannot turn his back on his craft and his departure would be too devastating to those who depend on his mentorship.

 I would say that is a really good possibility.

He also mentioned in his podcast that he really wants to get an Emmy now. The award that the show or station got recently he felt like Tanny should have been there to accept it since he is the most deserving. But you know they only had one ticket and Tanny and his wife could not go together so it fell to Larry to step up and be there to accept in for everyone.

The hoops he jumps through constantly to make himself feel important is really something.

The Portnoy Boys really had an impact. I knew they were doing solid work at DePaul, but his references to personal life problems illustrate how deeply they got to him. It is amazing what Danny unleashed at the station with his attack on nice guy Eddie.

work at depaul? Personal problems? Not sure I follow. Did Barstool go after Larry too?

Do you recall that early on they sent two “students” to be part of his class? I mentioned it a few times. Portnoy sent multiple avenues of attack on WSCR. Pretty sure someone got to Shane as well, but Shane is an ally. Larry was just a pawn. So was the fish guy who baited Bernsie, pun intended. They had a 20 point plan. It is quite a thing.

Guess I missed that part of Depaul and Larry. I knew you said they were going after Bernsie and the Score in general. Guess that all makes sense with Larry saying how this past year has been the toughest of his career.

I thought I saw on the subreddit that Larry got divorced? And he is approaching 50 and having a self admitted mid-life crisis

Or Maybe it was the barstool losers, who can say. Larry is complex and fragile

Larry said himself in his podcast that he is having a mid life crisis and considering buying a new sports car. He did not mention his divorce, but I am sure that plays into all of it.

This really should be the time Sir uses his leverage in contract negotiations. He's one of the few familiar voices to listeners. Marshall Harris isn't showing an ability to step on his demographic advantages. He'll never do anything to embarass the station. The Score simply cannot afford to lose him at this moment.

I think they can.

They wouldn't miss a beat with him gone. The afternoon show is a tough listen, and not getting better yet

This threatening of a random person on X brought to you by 670 ..THE SCORE !!!

Yeah the afternoon show is a joke. They gush over professional athletes like a couple of teenagers looking at Penthouse magazine for the first time.

This! Managers included with athletes, try to listen to the Craig Counsel interview, it's brutal with their giggling at whatever Counsel says.

One of the funniest things I saw was that they posted a list of their accomplishments. Aside from the obvious big win of getting Bernsie fired, they had the “Larry scouting report”. Apparently, they had some IT intern use a data scrub of five websites which included this place, the Reddit Score threads, and Midwest Forum, then collected all the stuff related to Larry. Then they used one of those AI tools to summarize a report on what the listeners thought of Larry.

The resulting scouting report was broken into Pros and Cons akin to what you hear about with college football athletes. So apparently when someone showed the report to Larry the cons really got to him.

Top 5:
-Fake tough guy
-Bad teammate (I assume this is the genesis of his villain comments)
-Nerdy
-Homosexual tendencies
-Disingenuous laugh

I have to see that bad boy. Where is it posted.

I didn't know the Barstool thing had mushroomed into something that big. Sir didn't even do anything to Ed and distanced himself from Dan for acting irrationally.

Sir isn't gay. I don't know where anyone would get that.

Does the Midwest sports board still exist?

What's the over/under on how many times Laurence mentions his Friday birthday this week? He already mentioned it twice and it was only Monday crosstalk.

man, how I long to never hear Laurence's "oh...let's just say it was a good time" tales again.

I know that's one of his recurring bits: withholding details to tease something uncouth (or at least something perhaps actually interesting?), even though we all know Laurence isn't particularly cool (which is FINE, really it is) based on the detailed stories he does tell

Both Spiegs and Holmes now have independent sources telling them that Caleb may not have the work ethic (staying late after practice) that he does now. For an organization that doesn't seemingly have many leaks, we should be thankful that this show gets the inside information that reports don't.

Well, that Esquire profile of Caleb where he trumpets his hunger to be great at the same time that he was whiling his days away with his girlfriend in European cafes probably didn't help his reputation much.

In some respects, I think Caleb is similar to Fields in that he may want to work hard or even think he is working hard without actually understanding the right way to work and the intensity and focus required for the tasks in which he is engaged. It may be a question that reverts to Samuel Morris' distinction between useful work and useless toil.
