The prognostications are exactly the same. Which was my original point.

9 out of 10 times, the line exists to get more people to bet a certain way, not to correctly prognosticate.

Revisionist. Even the non bookie types around here and elsewhere were "forecasting" an 8-9 win season minimum last season. While it sounds convenient to make it all about the "action" in retrospect, that just is not the case.

I think they could be worse next year. Their week eighteen win against the Packers was a fluke, they would’ve gotten destroyed if it was a consequential game. Then they catch Jacksonville after the hurricane in London, Carolina when they were at their worst, a fluke win against a good Rams team that would’ve beaten the Bears by forty if that game was held week eleven…I mean they barely beat the Titans.

I could see them getting worse. They certainly did not do much to improve.

If you also ignore the wins the former coach gave away, sure. They also were a blocked fg away from beating the Pack in a consequential game, so there's no evidence to suggest they'd be destroyed week 17.

Caleb really didn't have any touchdowns that count. Bears really didn't have any wins that count.

And they did not hire the most coveted head coach on the market or replace the entire interior offensive line with high quality guys. No chance for improvement at all.

Don’t like what they’ve done with the defense & particularly ignoring the pass rush, don’t like what they’ve done with the run game, very wary of this Jonah Jackson thing, not sure what is going on with left tackle and obviously I have a very dim view of the quarterback.

But yes sure the Bears spent their third straight offseason just pouring first round resources into the pass catcher position. Except instead of taking the absolute least twitchy most athletically unremarkable receiver you could find with a top ten pick they instead opted for pre-injured with this year’s choice.

And look, the Thuney move at these numbers is a worthy gamble. But what’s the contingency plan if it turns out the extra miles have all caught up with him and the Chiefs once again cut bait at just the right time? Their depth is so bad because they are so terrible at drafting.

There’s just no way to cover for the fact that they always take the wrong player at every pick no matter what.

I'm troubled by both Loveland and Turner being pre injured in coming to the team. It just never seems to work for the bears.

Loveland played through his injury last year and wasn't even going to have it fixed until his "advisors" told him to do so in late January. He shouldn't have waited so long to have the surgery since it requires a 6-month rehab period. Hopefully this isn't going to slow his integration into the offense.

It should have some impact on his game as he's not going to be able to lift.

But he didn’t really do anything last year, so he has low production when not playing with an undefeated team and questionable judgement about his own health.

The video from last year shows that Loveland continued to separate very effectively, but since there was a significant dropoff at QB he didn't get the ball that much. The injury seemingly didn't affect his performance. Michigans bad QBs did.

Of course, Loveland is now moving to a team with a bad QB, so there's that.

Didn't the Bears have 2 games lost on a blocked field goal last year? Since we are cherry picking wins, the Washington game should have been a win and the game against the Patriots after the Washington lost would have been a win if they didn't revolt against the coaching staff. That gets us to 9 wins that was predicted.

If they wanted a tight end so badly why didn’t they take the guy who rewrote the rookie record book at the position last year?

Hand up, I’m not grinding Michigan tape from last year.

However, do you think maybe there’s a chance defenders didn’t take him seriously given they had no QB capable of getting him the ball and whatever separation you’re seeing on the all-22s needs to be contextualized?

Seems unlikely. I was in favor of drafting Bowers last year and didn't like what I had seen from Odunze, who seemed to get thrown open a lot by Penix and wasn't great at creating separation on his own.

Yup and the same team who passed on him for that photo just had to have Caleb Williams BECAUSE he dresses up like a woman and cries like a bitch.
