btw: love how these reporters are saying "rumor has it." Even DeRo left early and it's his JOB to review shows.

Audioslave, followed up a brilliant self-title album with two CDs filled with utter crap.

great topic...wrong section? :? Mac made a fantastic point about REM. They were one of my favorite bands growing up; but after "New Adventures in Hi-Fi" they really dropped off. I guess some say they dropped off after "Document" but I still think they did some good things in the early 90's ("Shiny Happy People" - probably the most misunderstood single EVER). But "Reveal" and "Around the Sun" were godawful. "Accelerate" recaptures a bit of the glory...but Stipe just got too involved in...meandering and meaninglessness.

here are a few more:

The Dave Matthews Band - I was actually excited when "Before These Crowded Streets" came out, after I was just blown away by "Crash" and what a friggin let down. Then it was the whole college asshole douchebag abercrombie and fitch crowd that didn't help the matter. I hear a decent song from them now and then but I couldn't be less interested in buying any of their albums now.

Weezer - I will always remain loyal for some reason to this band for pwning my heart back in the mid-90's but Rivers Cuomo has no idea how to put an album together anymore. Maybe he wasn't meant to write music for people over the age of 18, but if that's the case...he needs to find a time machine.

Goldfinger - Outstanding debut, decent follow up with "Hang-Ups" and then COMPLETE DROP OFF. WTF?! I know ska wasn't really their thing but my God they blew ass after 1997. And their song dedicated to 9/11? Oh God help me...

Eminem - Less Kim and Mom hate songs, more songs about giving new wave babes with half their head shaved mushrooms. What happened to your sense of humor dude?

And for me...number one...

Nirvana - Happiness is a warm gun, and left us all cold. Thanks, for the memories, asshole.

Sorry to disappoint you on posting this here. Based on most of the responses, you're probably right.

What ever happened to.....

-Living Color?

-Whitney Houston?

-Wallflowers?

-Steve Perry?

goooood question. after "red letter days" i stopped caring...and it wasn't even a bad record. but yeah they really didn't go anywhere.

"up from under" still remains my favorite song of theirs, even if it's not one of their "singles", most of which i didn't like.

Maybe this is the wrong neighborhood to mention this, but Public Enemy after "Fear of a Black Planet" blew on epic scales.

I think I'm the only one admitting I hated this one trick pony, but Hootie and the Blowfish sucked from DAY ONE for me.

It also probably doesn't help that ESPN and Dan Patrick were pimping 'em all the time. Even years after they were a one album wonder.

The Verve.

Also, Radiohead is the Raffy Palmeiro of music. Went from the most underrated band of all time to the most overrated.

Raffy was always considered to be very underrated. By baseball players and hardcore baseball fans alike. He was the most statistically-consistent hitter that never received the accolades, endorsements, ESPN-hype that his contemporaries did. Of course, this all went down the drain after his appearance before Congress.

I don't know...by your definition, Frank Thomas was underrated.
Maybe Raffy is just a dickhead?

When did Raffy become overrated? The last two years of his career?

Chicago. I thought they rebounded well after Kath's death, but they really needed to keep Laudir D'Oliviera on percussion. Cetera's vocals have been missed, and I haven't been happy with some of the other replacements. Doing a big band album - come on, you're fucking rockers.

Not that this will mean much to anyone here, but my personal favorite group, Mocedades. Great group from Spain that never recovered from the departure of their lead singer. The current lead singer is fantastic, but they can't get airplay.
