Well, good Sir, you need to understand that the only acid rain that occurred in those days was when Mister Benjamin Franklin's decrepit teeth would spit upon you as he was speaking...

It hard to imagine a worse choice.
Oh. My. God.
I'm shocked.
But then again, I was never much of a listener, so it really doesn't matter to me.
Only matters to the other stations on the dial, who should be feeling pretty good.
They were hoping for Cochren and 'GN give them the early holiday gift of Williams.
What were they thinking.....

Cochran is worse than WIlliams IMHO. I've never heard a stand up comic have to remind people so often that he was a stand up comic.

 You'll never find that on ESPN 1000...

On another note, I agree with you.

I think John Williams is the right guy for mornings. I don't know if I want weekday Nick D., though. The appeal of his show is that it's on late at night and it's weird, enjoyably weird because you're in a different mood by then. If I were listening to banter about crappy B-movies during my mid-morning peak hours of mental acuity, I think I'd just get irritated.

Nick is definitely overnight material. He's too unpolished to be on any of the drive shifts and has too many obscure references to make it succeed in those slots. Give him 11-5 and let him run with it. I enjoy him.

Amen to that.....S&J got old and boring long ago. Huge Nick fan here, he needs the flexibility of overnights.

Williams is Wally Phillips Junior. But the folks who listen will keep on listening. I remember after Bob Collins died, Steve Dahl asked if he (dahl) or a trained monkey would get better ratings after the opening at the morning GN. Oh, the gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands of the media spectators (most notably John Calloway of Channel 11).

Guess what? The Spike O'Dell trained monkey had little effect on ratings. As Williams is putting drivers to sleep on the Edens, the ratings will not move. Unless the people meters are actually reading pulses of living beings.

Oh, okay, so then April 2000 was the last time Dahl had more edge than a butter knife. Okay, good. I'd been wondering.

edie and joblow are busy doing each other in the mornings now that they were sent to a home for aging gay disc jockeys. they'll contract something social and wither into dust. not a bad way to go but just go.
