They included a new LEVEL of tickets. Platinum games , of which they have 14 of them. Those games are $70 a ticket for my OF Field Box seats. $60 for Gold, $50 for Silver and $35 for Bronze. Only 4 Bronze games.

"We realize the economic hardships of the current environment and we did everything possible to try and maintain ticket prices at last years levels."

"The Platinum level tickets have been created because these tickets are the most actively traded on Stub Hub.,,"

Crane Kenny.

2 seats- section 140 - $9,0000.00

I understand it all, we have raised the ante, but realize a more is now at stake and the anger that could result could be worse than any Cub team has ever gone through.

I'm holding out for Copper tickets. I'm speculating on those prices to spike up again.

I have been a "Lead Level" ticket holder for a long time. I guess that would explain the brain damage that would cause me to keep going back and paying the outlandish prices they ask. The Cubs make Eagles tickets look reasonable.

With the long and illustrious post season success the Cubs have enjoyed over the last thirty years, they can do whatever they desire with ticket prices. Me, I have had enough. They seem to being doing OK with or without me. After all the dough I've dumped there over there since the late 70s, I figure someone else can carry the baggage now.

I'm not a bit surprised. Nor am I upset about it. I want the team to continue to not only contend, but continue to improve. That means signing more high priced free agents and perhaps trading for high priced talent as well. That necessitates ticket increases. It would be great to have them do all of this without the ticket increases. But thats not going to happen.

Your right, you should not be upset that we continue to get raped by this team when they cant win a championship for 100 years and blame the fans for their own failures.

I am soo freaking pissed that they did this. The more money you give them they seem to suck it up even more and are taking away the ability for a family to go and enjoy "america's past time"!!!!!!!!
It is cheeper for me to go up to Milwaukee with parking, gas, food, and ticket and it is more of a family atmosphere there then a big gigantic frat party atmosphere. The only way I will go to wrigley with the pookers if I was given free tickets. An average family can not afford to go to a game there anymore and enjoy the whole baseball aura/mystique and they are going to start driving away the average fan because of the high prices and when no one shows up they be up shit creek

My statements did not express anger.

1. It showed how stupid Crane Kenneth is for writing that letter that contradicts himself.

2. I dont believe they are profiting as much as they did during the McFail years, but then again during the last 2 1/2 years of McFail, the gross income actually declined which was an example of being shortsided, as it could have costs them significantly more money in the sales price.

3. I am willing to pay for my ring, but to show up for 3 years in a row in the playoffs and "NOT SHOW UP" might have such a severe backlash at this point, not sure what will happen.

The long & short of it is they are taking special dates & match ups & putting a more premium price on those dates/games. If I go to Stub Hub, which is affilliated with MLB (correct?), and look to buy a Wednesday afternoon game in April against the Pirates....I can surely get a cheap ticket. If I go to Stub Hub and want to buy a Sunday afternoon game in July against the Cardinals....the demand & price will be higher.

I share season tickets...and this year I'll have to dig a little deeper to buy my tickets. That sucks...just because. Crane Kenney is contradicting himself though. Double-speak.

Crane Kenney is such a great example of the Blue Blood Tribune execs that just hung around and gets promoted beause he was there. I think the guy is an idiot and keeps the gig because he has the key to the bathroom.

What he basically said was 'We are raising prices because we can", dont try and tell me how you tried to keep them the same

I hear ya BF...and Crane "Kennedy" (as Jim Belushi would say) is the poster boy for Tribune "type" execs.

That said, I think the guy speaks really well. His speech at the playoff rally (stupid playoff rally) was pretty damn good. Well, I thought it was.../but at the time I was all "amped up" for the playoff's.

New owners by spring training???

Nothing will happen if they get swept again and raise prices 20%. They will still sell out. They know it and you know it to.

I wouldn't bank on that. Ask anyone who paid $500 for playoff tix last year if they will do it again. Most fans I know have no intentions of ponying up after that monster choke last year, even for most of the cheaper regular season games. This is different from the 60s, especially after last year. Real fans are looking for a winner, and are fed up with the performances of the last two post seasons. Will someone buy those tickets? Sure, but the short term fans are not where you want to place your bets. Who is going to see the Pirates in April, other than die-hards?

Has anyone done the math yet to determine how much extra revenue this will create? Since this increase was announced, it appears as though Hendry is now able to add more payroll. 140 million??? as another thread talks about.

I'm sure Murph will be breaking it all down. ha

that money comes back to you. I'm paying about the same amount and I will continue my practice of selling enough tickets on SH to make a profit....
