Dick Allen and Joe Torre as well- could be wrong, but it is what I have been told

Hope they are not Terry's source.

Oh but Terry's source is rarely wrong.

So Terry is senile and is just forgetting what the source really said?

Perhaps Terry's source is senile and forgot what was really said? :)

I don't think he should be in. I like the guy, but, as I've said before, there's too many damned HOFers on the late 60's team that never ever accomplished anything but one of the most historic collapses.

I'll be happy for Santo. I was there in 2003 for the last regular season game, when they retired his number and raised the #10 Santo flag on the left field pole. It was a really nice thing, but as much as he said that having his number retired by the Cubs was "his hall of fame" , I know this will mean a lot to him. Glad it could happen while he is still alive. That said, I think he was a very good player, but I never thought he was hall of fame material. But then again, I think Brooks Robinson and Cal Ripken don't belong either and both are in already. If they belong, I guess so does Santo.

Banks, Brock (sorta kinda but not really my point but noteworthy) Jenkins, Williams, and now Santo. How can all these HOFers be on a team that didn't win anything? That's gonna KILL Santo. Shit with 5 HOFers they should have been to several WS.

Darkside, I think you fail to realize the greatness of the 69 Cubs. They changed everything!!!

If that pack of losers did change something it was making it acceptable and "loveable" to lose. What a bunch of ass holes.

"Lets play two"(not playoff games though right Mr. Cub)
Did Santo click his heels when they clinched the division or in the playoffs?

I like Fergie and Billy. The rest of em can go to hell.

He never started broadcasting. He is a rambling, mumbling, fool. I cross my fingers too.

No way. This will give him more reason to broadcast. I could see it now........Pat coming back from every break "And I'm back with hall of famer Ron Santo...."

Santo is to that Broadcast what Meg White is to The White Stripes.

As much as I like one half of the duo. The other makes them unlistenable.

I know you're happy for me, but I know Matt Boltz personally. I've emailed him numerous times asking him to slip something in Ron's drink that will make him lose his voice for oh, 162 games or so...no luck yet.

Maybe now the Santo fans will get their 'second wish', the elimination of the veterans committee. IMO, while none of them deserved entry into the Hall, it is funny to hear the whining and griping about the old grudges the "jackass" committee members still hold

Santo is borderline HOF material. The fact that he hasn't gotten in suggests that he doesn't deserve to get in. So be it. Whether he gets in or not matters little to me.
However, to say Santo sucks is simply ignorant. Debate the merits of his numbers all you want. You cannot say, with any validity, that he sucks.
That is sheer stupidity.

You know I used to hate Parkman when he was with the A's. It's amazing how a new uniform can change your attitude about a guy.

They're waiting for him to die first. They don't want to give him the satisfaction of being able to enjoy it, because he rubs too many people the wrong way.

I am not a Santo die hard, I will even refrain from my normal comments about him.

Baseball reference.com owner , thought was a decent source

The gleeful Sox fans celebrating this again are some of the biggest shitheads in town. I can't think of any other ballplayer with so many people actively rooting against his enshrinement. What a strange case we've allowed to develop here.

I'm a Cubs Fan for 34 years, but wasn't around to see Santo Play. I can't say if he belongs or doesn't belong in the HOF, but growing up with other cubs fans and being raised by the previous generation of Santo lovers, It's hard to mesh thru the Santo KoolAid.

But One thing I can for sure tell you is I am so sick and tired of this POS Guy Santo. It has nothing to do with this HOF, it has to do that he acts so pathetic and worthless. Have you ever seen a guy with such self-pity? I mean come on man, Give it up! Grow some fucking balls and get on with your life. Who the fuck wants to see you crying every 2 years when you don't get in to a fucking baseball meuseum!

I got to agree with some of the other posters, I don't care if they are WSox fans, they speak the God Damn Truth, and I'm a die hard Cubs fan. That 69 team was the biggest bunch of losers in this city. If they won the WS that year, they wouldn't have been half as famous for blowing the pennant. They should pray to the baseball gods that they blew that season down the toilet because if they hadn't, they wouldn't be milking money off like they have been for almost 40 years. And yes, 2009 will be 40 years, which means more $$$$ with the media attention coming and the multiple shows about 1969.

Lastly, I'd like to thank Score host Mike Murphy opening my eyes to the real 1969 cubs. Not the Kool Aid Luvable Losers version. I once called Murph about the 84 cubs back in the nineties. That fucker went off on me on the air how the 69 cubs were so much better. It was like I said Fuck you to his mother. I screamed back WELL AT LEAST THE 84 CUBS WON SOMETHING! Fucker hung up on me. From then on, I quit drinking the 1969 Cubs Kool Aid train from guys like Murph and my dad/uncles/etc.... Fuck that 1969 team and Fuck that self loathing POS Santo. Banks and Jenkins and Williams are in right. That's enough from that loser team.
