I made mention of this a few weeks ago in another thread but no one really took notice.

As I sit here typing this, Orlando is leading New Orleans 61 to 31 at the half. This is the first year that I've had the NBA package and like I said before, it's been very common to flip to any game and see a team up by anywhere from 17 to 30 points on a given night.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just my imagination? There just seems to be a lot of blowouts this year. I mean, I'm even seeing good teams like the Lakers trailing by 20 at various points in games. Some of you other hoop-heads have to notice this too.

Ive only been back for a week or so and have sort of noticed what youre talking about. The Bulls/Jazz game was the only decent game Ive caught so far. Im hopeful todays Suns/Spurs, and LA/Boston is good. Ill watch the Cavs/Wizards but I doubt the Wiz stay within 20. Im also hopeful Dallas/Portland will be decent and itll be the first time I get to watch Oden and the Blazers this year.

I heart the Spurs. They are what I miss most about basketball. Decent game but bad finish between Lakers/C's.

Rondo is gonna be a very good PG. Ill await Nas's aplogies about Rondo and Rose.

Bynum isnt now but will be great too. Great meaning he will be the best player on a championship winning team 5-7 years from now. Sometimes you can just see it.

The Suns should be better then they are. Ive said this last year but will repeat again, Nash is clearly past his prime. He can still be effective but his defense has declined to the point that any PG in the L on any given night can throw up a 20-10 game against him.

How 'bout the Lakers, fans? Yeah, Kobe Bryant had 27, but Pau Gasol had 20 as L.A. snapped the Celtics' 19 game win streak early this evening with a 92-83 win in the first meeting since Boston pistol whipped them in Game 6 of the NBA Finals last June...Talk about quite a Christmas present for NBA fans everywhere.

Uh yeah, so what about the awesome Kings-Celtics game last night? Good lord...watched a bit of it and while I don't care either way about the particular teams, I've always found the Kings play-by-play guy annoying as hell and it was fun listening to him describe a 40 point deficit

Also found it interesting to hear Eric Snow's commentary on NBA TV during the game...an emailer was wondering why the C's still had Garnett, Ray Allen and some starters in the game while they were up that much. Snow essentially said it was because some of those players had been on the receiving end of some blowouts during their time with their previous teams, and this was sort of a measure of revenge for them. I thought that was pretty ridiculous...for one you're risking injury (of which I think the Celtics have been extremely lucky so far in their Big 3 era). Two you could be getting the bench guys more time and thirdly revenge against who? The whole concept is dubious but if they were out for "revenge" against anyone I'd assume it would be the Pacers, Warriors, Nuggets or Lakers.

The league really hasn't been that good as a whole this year.

And Eric Snow's logic was absolutely ridiculous. I think out of all the NBA TV analysts, Eric Snow has to be the worst. I'm sure he's a nice guy but he doesn't have an ounce of personality in him. Most days it seems like he'd rather be somewhere else.

Yeah, I agree...while I think Ahmad Rashad, Gary Payton and Webber are a bit over the top at times, they are at least entertaining. Rick Kamla is over the top in a bad way. Steve Smith is just OK...Eric Snow is like watching paint dry.

Are GP and Webber as good as Bill Simmons has described? Havent seen them yet, dont have NBA TV. He says GP is as good as Barkley, which I would have a tough time believing.

as a player or an analyst?

Webber's not bad...he's entertaining. Payton, while entertaining, isn't as good as Barkley. Barkley's funny...Payton's just REALLY LOUD. Payton and Webber are like a couple of guys at the barbershop or at the bar watching basketball.
