Horse poop. I'd usually be happy with a 9-7 record but I'm not. Here are the reasons.

There are no playoffs.
The offense ranked 14th in points, 26th in yards, 21st in passing, 23rd running and 26th overall.
The defense ranked 16 in points, 21st in yards, 30th against the pass, 5th against the run and 21st overall. For what this team is being paid that is pitiful.
This team is not motivated at all and the whole coaching staff blows.

In the division they are in and the schedule they had they should have won it. I think this team could have gone farther and done better with a different staff this year. Unless you get another return guy that scores once or twice a game or count your defense as a major part of your offense kiss a superbowl season goodbye. This by no means was a winning season.

Jerry Angelo gets a C- at best for his Defensive Draft and a D for his Offensive Draft. He is solely responsibe for Personel and how he still has a job is amazing. You can make the case that Lovely (and staff) are better than we all think. I also wanted to add that looking at 14 or 15 of the teams thay played this year have more talent (by position) than the Bears do.

I would point the finger at GM Jerry Angelo for letting Bernard Berrian go to a division rival in the Minnesota Vikings. The wide receiver may not have been worth the kind of $$$$ that it would have cost the Bears, but you read it here, Bear fans. Letting Berrian go to a division rival will haunt the Bears for a long, long time. I would also point another finger at defensive coordinator Bob Babich and the coaching staff for constantly failing to put any pressure on the opposing QB, such as was the case today with Matt Schaub racking up about 349 yards and 2 TD passes for the Houston Texans, and NOT sacking him once! And of course, the players who got paid a lot of $$$$ themselves on the defense for not paying their investments and acting like jerks in the process! That means you Brian Urlacher, Tommie Harris, and other sorry asses on the high-priced defense! :x :x :x

If I can only pick one person/single group of people to place blame on - I'd go with our DB's. they were horrible all year.

1.Tillman: got burned on a regular basis (yes, I realize he usually covers the best WR). He also single handedly lost the game vs. Tampa with his bullshit penalty. How nice would that one game look now?
2. Nathan Vasher. WTF was he doing while he was in there? he was absolutely pathetic from game one, then got hurt. There is no way this MF'er should be back in a Bears uniform.
3. Mike Brown: Hurt again.
4. Danieal Manning: See my description for Vasher, it pretty much applies to his DB play as well.
5. Payne: pick your damn head up, wrap up when you tackle, and stop trying to make the damn high-lite reel hit on every damn play. Settle your ass down.

I would find blame for other players/coaches/front office, but if I only get one nomination, I'll put it on the DB's.

Lovie seems to do nothing during the actual game, but I think he did ok for what he had- an aging defense, a mediocre/unknown QB, an aging middle of the road defense. Angelo gets a great deal of blame, but this season was lost because of the defense. The offense has thier struggles and were dormant at times, but as I stated in another thread, if the D shows up in the 4th quarter in ONE of these games (Carolina, Tampa, Atlanta, Houston), the Bears would have wrapped up the NFC north Monday night and Rex would have been playing today.

spanky, Mike Brown had a pretty good year. The secondary overall sucked, but Brown played well and I was surprised he made it as far as he did before going on IR.

And BD, this season is pitiful. For everything the Bears had happen for them and to them, no playoffs this year is total and complete failure.

So one draft pick elevates his grade that much? If not for Matt Forte he'd have an F-. He has completely ignored the line and the one fu(ker he takes is out for the season. Can you say A-hole?

that much? what grade did i say he should get? he shouldn't get a D. when you only get like 6 or 7 picks per draft, you're lucky to have one work out. and injuries can't be blamed on the GM.

Bob Babich and the entire defense was to blame for this season, with special teams getting an honorable mention. Both were to blame for losing the Atlanta game, which turns out to be the biggest loss of the season in terms of hindsight. Lovie deserves to be the head coach next season.

Danieal Manning lost that game for them today.

I feel bad for Tillman and I'm hoping his troubles this season were related to the personal stuff he was going through. I'm hoping he'll be okay for next year.

A lot of people are giving up on Vasher and I see why. I don't know if I'm ready to yet.

Brown made it longer than I thought he would and has a huge impact on this team. I refuse to be pissed at him.

I think with a better coaching staff Payne would be better.

It was Mac who said that last week.Tomorrow Mac will suggest we run Lovie up the flag pole. :P

Not a fan of Lovie Smith ... Back to back years of disappointment and Lovie made his bed when he fired Chico and brought in this ass clown Babich. If the Bears had balls, and they don't , you fire Lovie and bring in Cower but I look Cower to come in and rebuild the Lions for big money or a team like the Rams.

Orton is not a franchise QB but capable of being a solid leader but when you look at the big picture the D is old and beat up and they need to over-haul and spend big money in FA on Boldin and draft a guy like Crabtree or a legit first round WR.

I'm not sold on Orton. Why are you?

BTW your sausage was a little salty and didn't quite clear the bottom of the bowl. I have a voracious appetite, you got anything bigger?

I don't mind you bringing this up as a problem, but do you really think it is Mike Brown's fault that he gets hurt a lot? It is either the trainers' fault for not having him in better condition, or the coaches' fault for not having an adequate replacement ready (or the gods' fault for injuring him so often, but you best not pick a fight against the gods for this.)

He played 15 games out of 16. I don't think the average NFL starter is injured less than 1 game per 16.

1) Angelo. Year after year of bad drafting.

2) Ted Phillips. Should have realized the Bears went to the Super Bowl in spite of having Smith. Should have shown balls and elevated Rivera to head coach [I don't know where Rivera would have taken them, but I'd rather give Chico the shot than keep this assclown].

3. Smith. Terrible coach. Doesn't make adjustments, doesn't motivate, doesn't seem to strategize - what the hell does he do? Helped ruin the best threat this team had.

4. Babich.

5. Turner. Helped ruin the best threat this team had. Uninspired play-calling.

6. Hester. How do you forget how to return kicks and punts? You lost it, and better get it back or your out of the NFL.

Does some one call inspired plays?

It usually means "doesn't scream at people".

I would have to say the coaching staff. For Ron Turner and his "high school" offensive play calling. And to Lovie and Babich for refusing to abandon the Cover 2 scheme that almost everyone in the NFL has figured out. Also, the GM has to get some of the blame for thinking that Hester, Lloyd, and Booker would be our starting WR core.

Can't wait until the draft.

THE BEARS PLAY ALMOST NO COVER TWO!!!! THEY DON'T PLAY WITHIN THAT SCHEME ANYMORE!!!! I hate having to repeat myself, but it's true. They played way, way more cover two in 2005 and 2006. They played some in 2007 and have played practically none this year.

CAN WE GET A FUCKING REAL QB ON THIS FUCKING FRANCHISE??? How long have we been waiting for a Real QB, since McMahon??? If you want to call him real.

I want a QB that can make PLAYS, knows how to close out games, knows how to win big games, et.c...

And can we get some fucking REAL WIDE RECEIVERS on this team. Marty fucking Booker? you got to be kidding me. And put Hester back returning kickoffs, fuck this WR experiement.

And Finally, someone wake these fuckers up and tell them that 'BEAR FOOTBALL' doesn't work anymore. Get with the 21st Century and find a fucking real offense. Pass the fucking ball, make defenses scared of the pass. Don't give me that shit that you can't pass the ball in Bear weather, blah blah blah, bullshit motherfucker. What the fuck was Farve doing with the Packers the last 10 years, McNabb w/ the Eagles, Brady passing in New England's shit weather, don't tell me you can't pass in chicago weather.

I am so sick of this dumbshit coach and GM, but it's not their fault, it's the whole thing that reeks from top down. It's this stupid 1940's style of football this organization is based on that makes them so hard to watch. We lucked out in 85.
