Where the hell is "Commissioner" Allan H. Selig to stop this crap? The Yankees are believed to owe $27 million in luxury tax, and I realize that they're moving into a new ballpark right across the street from the current Yankee Stadium, but GIMME A BREAK!!!

He saved 39/40 opportunities. He had a 1.40 ERA. He gave up 41 hits in 70 innings and had 77 K's and 6 BB's. Yeah he's hangin on by a thread.

I, on the other hand, love that they saw their rival in a position to acquire a top free agent and took him instead. Even if they have to shop him later in the contract and eat some salary, isn't it worth the extra millions per year to make a move that significantly improves their chances of winning?

Angels sign Fuentes to a 2yr deal with an option for a 3rd. Hard to believe the Brewers wouldn't have guaranteed the 3rd year.

It's 2yr $17.5 mil with a $9mil vesting option based on games finished. Wow. I can't belive they got him this cheap. Great signing by the Angels.

With all of this rush for free agents, what's up with Joe Crede?

I read the Giants are looking at him. Boras is trying to get a Magglio-type deal for him where the team can opt out after the first year if he's injured and vests for X-amount of years if he stays healthy. That probably won't fly in this free agent enivornment so he'll probably have to settle for a 1 yr deal and try again next offseason.

Jason Giambi is going back to Oakland, signing a one-year deal with the A's. Also, could Trevor Hoffman be closing a little further north with the Padres' division rivals in Los Angeles?

Hoffman signed a yr deal with an option with the Brewers. I thought they'd get Fuentes but Hoffman is still a definite upgrade over the crap they ran out in the 9th last season.

Ok for all the Yankee haters out there...This is what I find worse. When a team can buy up 9 starting pitchers or pitchers that are hurt and wont be ready til july.

The Red Sox always have 2-3 Starting Pitchers on hold going into a season.

The Brewers gave a lot of $$$$ to Eric Gagne last year, and needless to say, he wasn't nearly as dominating as he was in Los Angeles...I'm not so sure the Trevor Hoffman signing works out either.

What is the Brewers current starting rotation? Are they linked to any names on the market outside of Hoffman? I've heard Mulder, who says he is healthy, but that's not something they should be counting on.

BD, with C.C. Sabathia set to earn a fortune with the Yankees, and with Ben Sheets dealing with constant injuries and likely wearing a different uniform, I wish I knew who's starting for Milwaukee...You got me on that one.

They could also trade for a young starter and move Bush to the bullpen. Melvin has a good farm system and a lot of picks in the upcoming draft so I see him making a few more moves this off season.

One name the Bums are said to be interested if the Ramirez talks continue to drag is Diamondbacks' slugger Adam Dunn, who is 7 1/2 years younger than Manny, and would be a cheaper alternative. Smartest thing McFail has done. This guy's a monster and combined with Adam Jones and Matt Wieters the O's have the nucleus for a very powerful offense. If their pitchers continue to develop watch out for the O's in '11.
