Just saw this, Doug. Having grown up in Lake County (IL) and spent most of my life here, I can agree with your assessment of Mundelein. If I was in your demographic... which I am minus the wife and kids... I'd probably still live where I'm at, as I have a higher value placed on a garage, backyard, and basement, but I certainly realize I'm nuts and most people would want to be in the city.

Good luck... we still need to have that amp sampling up north prior to your move. The Marshalls await...

i have managed to spend most of my life in lake county as well. 20 of 33years.
your point makes sense especially since you have a wife and kids.
i've had/have the garage, yard, and basement. as nice as they are to have, they're a shittone of work to maintain. (yard mostly).

i'm not leaving yet and would love to try them out!

Just saw this and wanted to wish you luck, doug. I spent the first 3 years of my post-college life in Lake County(IL) and found out the same drawbacks you mentioned. After 3 years, I moved to the city and haven't looked back. I don't want to completely hate on the burbs either. Lake County is nice, but it's meant for families.
