HA! If he were Jason Marquis Kenny would have had to pay some of his salary and would have only been able to get an overpaid shitty middle reliever in return. Not four (4) good prospects.

Ya good point. Fact is KENNY WILLIAMS resigned JAVY VAZQUEZ for 11 million per year...about 8 months after Sox fans were ridiculing the Ted Lilly 10mill$ signing.

Also while Kenny was commiting 11 a year to Javy...Chris Young was hitting 30 home runs out of the leadoff spot and performing well in the play offs.
Oh and please list the 4 "good" prospects and where they rank in their farm system. Cuz if you think Javy was good...your definition of good is waaaaaay off.

There were guys on the White Sox' own flagship station that questioned the signing of Vazquez at the time...$11 million?

On the flip side, if you think Chris Young is "Way above average"...your definition of above average is is waaaaaay off.

Ok well maybe not far above average...but a CF who has 30/30 potential is defintiely above average.

Hes also way younger with potential to get "way above average"

I'd say Chris Young has potential to be an all-star type player, but he isn't right now. Good in the field and nothing special at the plate. Speed is the only thing that really sets him apart from dozens of other players....like, dare I say, Nick Swisher.
Giving him up for Vazquez was a good risk and it didn't pay off for the Sox. But at the same time I don't really care that the Sox don't have Young either.

rpb, by your own admission, the Sox traded a proven starter for potential? I'll take the former 6 days a week and twice on Sunday.

Lillibridge spent time in the majors and so is not on prospect lists. I expect him to either be the starting second baseman or utility man on this year's team.

Flowers is currently ranked #3 by Baseball America. #2 Poreda is fighting for a spot as the 5th starter this year. #1 Beckham is expected to be MLB ready in 2010.

The other two are low enough in the organization to not have a significant rank.

Young would look way better in the Sox OF than Wise, Owens or Anderson.

I think one of the notable jobs up for grabs in Spring Training is center field, where Chris Young or anyone else for that matter in Bud Selig's Major League Baseball would be an upgrade over Brian Anderson & Jerry Owens, the guys likely vying for the job when the Sox head to Glendale, AZ. Everyone thinks Brian is really good defensively, but I think B.A.'s offense is not that productive, while Jerry can be the kind of leadoff hitter with speed at the top of the batting order. If the Sox move Jermaine Dye, they could shift Carlos Quentin to right field, and maybe put Dewayne Wise in left field like they did down the stretch. The other notable position up for grabs is second base, where Chris Getz & Jayson Nix, whom we haven't heard much about since the Sox signed the former Colorado Rockie as a free agent, appear to be vying for the job next to new shortstop Alexei Ramirez.

Not sure what that means Frank. My point is the trade for Vazquez was garbage. As far as getting rid of him...I dont know. But the original trade for him sucked.

for the record, Chris Young in two full MLB season:

BA.237 OBP.295 HR32 SB27 SO141
248 315 22 14 165

The great Chris Young is showing himself to be a bottom of the order all or nothing power hitter with some speed. That OBP is Uribesque.

Chris Young is a slightly above average center fielder that was traded for an average starter. The original statement was that this deal was a 'bust' and I whole heartedly disagree.

GD gave you the same #s, just each year separately. Look again.

Brian Anderson is self described Texas White Trash...he told me so.

Anyways he is a really good defensive CF

Ozzie must disagree with you seeing that Anderson spent the last part of the season picking the splinters out of his ass.

At one point, he did or said something that pissed a lot of people off. I admire how he handled himself last year. He was clearly the best defensive outfielder on that team, but for various reasons was relagated to a late inning defensive replacement role- the 25th man on the roster. He handled it was class and when his number was called upon, he came up with some big plays.

I fully expect him (barring a move for a CF) to compete for the starting CF job in the spring, and if he can even put up mildly impressive numbers at the plate, he'll be the CF hitting 8th or 9th against the Royals in April.

He was also born, raised, and still resides in Tuscon, AZ.

Thats why I said self described.

What MUST be true is he said it...cuz I heard him.

And he said it in anger so I took it as true.

Easy there champ. I don't doubt he said it. I'm just saying that what HE said wasn't necessarily true.

Maybe he did say it, maybe he does perceive himself to be white trash. The fact remains he still lives in Tucson.

Ok Mike I see. But to my original point...he described himself as such.

anyways he's a good defender but I doubt it was his attitude that kept him on the bench last year. Say what you want about KW or Oz but they want to win...theyre gonna put the best players out there IMO.

Actually I disagree with that. I think Ozzie and KW would DEFINITELY sit a guy if they didn't like his attitude. It's their way or the highway.

The benched Swisher because of this. Granted, he was not playing very well, but he was kept on the bench because of his attitude.

No, I think they have the attitude of "We're gonna win with our guys or lose with our guys...but either way at least our guys are on the field."
