I'm intrigued by this whole NDHS thing. The school or the booster club or whatever didn't actually PAY him money toward the production of this show, did they, like a conventional sponsor? I would tend to interpret the ND "sponsorship" as meaning "this is unsold time, so I'll just give a plug and post the name of the school I coach at on the ticker." Right? I mean they COULDN'T give this shithead real MONEY, could they? I need to retain some tiny shred of faith in the educational system, public or private, in our country.

I'm intrigued also. I agree completely with your assessment.

Well, my guy at comcast told me they are wanting 5000 or 6000k for 50 spots, i dont know if that is alot, but in no way do i see ndhs paying that and if they did, they should be ashamed of themself, because a school...a high school can find better things to spend that money on.

On the ND issue - if it is the booster club, it could be coming from one guy's pocketbook ( and not anything from the school) and he is saying give the ad time to ND - could be someone like one of the Les brothers (since all of them graduated from there and Tom is the head coach, and presumably the one that hired Mr. basketball).

Plus, they probably got North's famous "my guy rate".

I bet the cost is picked up by the Norths and gets to come in as a charitable tax deduction. Now the Norths would have to write a check for 5K and it would be money transferred, but the check is written to Licorice Productions which is wholly owned by the Norths. That might have to be shared with Comcast, but I imagine they are giving Licorice a certain amount for start up costs.

So, in your theory, the Norths make a tax-deductible contribution to NDHS, who then turn around and use it to pay for a "sponsorship" of the show, which means the money takes a circuitous route from Mike North's pocket back to Mike North's production company, earning a tax break for Mike along the way? Well, I'm no tax attorney, but if that's really the case, perhaps the IRS would be interested in this.

Unless proven wrong, I simply say it's unsold time. And also, are a medical staffing company and a suburb really a good sponsorship match for the target demographic--whatever that is--of this show? So far, I see no real commercial time of any value to the buyer sold here. It's just a couple friends of Mike stroking him. And that won't pay for long for the production of a television show--even a pile of crap like this.

Commercial-free, talent-free, content-free . . . Jesus Christ, how much more free can you be?!

Fun bad to the Nth power.
Gee, just what the viewer needs. Ad talk intertwined with malaprops, stuttering and a few sprinkles of tangental North moments.

How long before Mike blames the economy for the lack of sponsors, ultimately leading to the demise of this show? Because it can't be the fact that by all accounts it is uninspired, low-budget crap.

I did not get to watch, totally forgot about it. Actually reminded by MJH, who also forgot.

Now I will make a review of a show I did not watch, hmmm...kinda like a certain baseball guy does his analysis of games he never sees!

I am not surprised if the show is not interesting, but from all the comments here it seems to lack anything that was even close to called entertainment. Not one segment commented on except for Jen having some issues?

Maybe I missed the comment or nobody saw anything, but did they do anything like "Jag Bag"?

Pretty much everyone here said that Mike is spending most of the show looking for ad dollars and it seems that Notre Dame High School sponsored quite a bit.

Next Step, NDHS and Village of Rosement seem to be the only sponsors? If he sold $800,000 and $300,000 was from Next Step, who bought the the other $500K?

I might catch 1 hour tomorrow, if I remember, as I just checked COMCAST and No replay? But Sportsrise is still there! at 5 AM

Monday: Mayor Richard M. Daley, Rocky Wirtz, Jim Corno
Tuesday: Dick Butkus and K.C. Johnson
Wednesday: Guests TBA
Thursday: Guests TBA
Friday: Guests TBA

I only saw five minutes of it, but thankfully that five minutes included a Jen update segment. Wow. That was Boom Goes The Dynamite bad. They can't keep her on as the regular updater if she can't improve on these live reads.

No jag bag, caning, or all those award winning bits...

I don;t want to see them - they should have had new bits/segments after having six months to work on it. It was only day one - we'll see what they drop in as the week/month progresses.

But I won't hold my breath....

Could not agree more about NEW stuff, but the guy went 5 years with one new thing. Why would he change? Remember he made $7.5 million doing it his way, this no other way is ever considered because of that. Just ask Rock.

If they really wanted to be edgy they would rehash Kammala and The Wizard....have a taped segment of Jiggs dressed up like Kammala the Ugandan Warrior and Pappy like Merlin

I dedicated the 3 minutes that I spend watching any TV show in the morning to check it out. They came back from a commercial break and within 5 seconds some young girl, not Jen, walked into the middle of the frame behind the desk and set down a piece of paper and left.

I know they did that on purpose. I don't know why but that is just funny to me.

I tuned in literally for 10 seconds this morning and I saw the same girl run in and give Pappy a piece of paper.

Does she just walk around in a loop around the desk?
