Supposedly wants to play for the Bears next year. Anyone interested?

Sure, why not? I don't think he's ready for the glue factory yet.

I would be ok with them replacing Grossman with Leftwich and then drafting a guy in the mid rounds to compete with Hanie for the 3rd spot.

Im not sure what Orton showed to anyone this year to just announce him as the starter already. This team needs an actual qb.

This team needs help on the DLine, Secondary, OLine, and at WR. Quarterback can always be improved, but it should not be a priority for the Bears this offseason. The other aforementioned positions should be.

Yeah, if Orton gets hurt just bring in Hanie or a 3rd round draft pick rookie, it'll be fine.

I'm not sure what it would hurt, but only if it were a one or two year deal, and only if what you're using is the "excess" part of the cap after you've made your real deals with other, more important, players.

Didnt this guy have health issues?

At one time one of the great young QB's in the league, or so EPSN said.

Whats his damage?
Arm?
Knee?

I thought his ankle got messed up a couple times resulting in his statue-like presence in the pocket.

Can we start using the QB position for the future rather than finding whatever older QB on the downside of his career is available for a few million dollars?

Signing Leftwich would just continue the cycle of mediocre QB play.

Draft a rookie in the first 3 rounds, let him sit behind Orton to start the year. If Orton doesn't improve his play from the year before put him in towards the end of the year and build towards the future.

The only veteran QB that would make sense would be Kurt Warner but the price tag on him will largely be too much.

We have an average QB right now in Orton. Bringing in another average QB doesn't give us a better chance to get a very good to great QB. Drafting a rookie and hopefully letting him sit for a year does.

Do you think the Ravens are happy with the fact that they drafted a rookie QB instead of finding a veteran QB off the scrap heap?

Realistically speaking, I'm not sure what difference it would have made this year. The question is whether Flacco takes the "next step forward" next year, and of course no one knows that.

I dunno, lets ask another rookie wonder like say, Rick Mirer?

Pretty sure Byron has one leg shorter than the other from Surgeries, which cut down on his mobility, but he can still throw.

Bring him in.

The Bears will need a veteran backup QB, because Rex Grossman's as good as gone in my opinion and Arizona's Kurt Warner might be way out of the Bears' price range. Byron Leftwich did good in very limited action for the Steelers as Big Ben's primary backup. I don't know if Caleb Hanie's even in the conversation for the #2 job after earning the #3 job in training camp.

He's been out of football for a couple years, and I heard what he told "Mac, Jurko & Harry" late in the season. I wasn't impressed in the least.
