"I am just glad it's not my $30 million..blah blah blah they owe over $300 million....blah blah"

We got it! Stone's attempts at shots at the Cubs have not only become boring, but really brings his whole 'alleged reports' down a notch when he smuggly thinks he is getting 'subtle' shots in, when he is doing nothing in a subtle method and defends his actions with "What exactly did I say?"

This was a bad signing by the Score to keep Stone as a baseball analyst. Not only does he have his grudge to work all season long against the team that showed him the door (I never said he was fired) but he no longer has timely information to provide because he will be working during 90% of the other games.

Not good.

Good post BF...I heard him today and thought, wow what a bitter ass old man! You would think after what, 5 years now, he could move on from his Cubs sour grapes but it sounds like he's still a jilted lover....Come on Stone...you married another chick...quit whining about the one you had before!

Yes. This goes back to when Stone thought Hendry should have backed him in the bitchfest between him and Dusty in 04. So now Stone finds every oppurtunity to take shots at Hendry. Stone also probably is a little dissapointed one of his friends Weisbach or the Canning group didnt get the Cubs so he could have a bull-shit position and fire Hendry. I used to love Stone, but he loves to hear himself talk.

Does Mitch Rosen listen to his own station?

The Stone bashing on the Cubs has been going on for about 2 years now. I don't care what he says about the Cubs, but I don't like hearing him on the denying it to callers, like the listeners aren't smart enough to figure out what he is doing.

The reason he is supposed to be there, outside of a Sox game, is that he is to talk about what is going on in baseball, with a focus on the Cubs and Sox. Now we know he will have the Sox information, or he should, but it became so blatantly obvious that he is just recycling items that he reads other places or someone else tells him.

He brought zero original information to the table last year, because he saw very other teams due to his "JOB" and this year being on TV, one would expect to see even less due to more TV preparation time and the 3 hours needed before a game to install Hawk's nuclear battery pack and depends.

Yeah, I hate having to constantly hear the thoughts of someone with an apparent grudge...

No grudge at all.

When Stone was not a White Sox employee, he still did a good job with the analyst position and took his cubs shots. OK, it was a little annoying, but because this was all he did he had so much other info, the shot was 1% of his 30 minutes on the air and it still made for a very good listen.

Now that he brings no preparation to the table, he spends half his time taking shots at the Cubs, because its all he knows.

Just calling out a lame, bad show as it has become for 2 reasons and why it was renewed was to keep harmony in the Jerry Rosendorf WSOX family.

Go find a baseball guy with good connections that is out of work that is willing to do some preparation and bring something to the table. Bruce, for all his voice drop offs, bad jokes, and mumble mouthed sayings does his homework and is someone that is a must listen for baseball info.

Stone is great if you want someone to read you the AOL baseball insider from 1 week ago. I Just don't like my alleged superior baseball information watered down to WGN levels and Chicago Sports Fan Sports Talk station is expected to bring me more, or I will just find The Sporting News and listen to the national perspective if the local guy gives me nothing.

The way Stone read the stats from Baseball-reference.com today on Milton was great.

Let me put it on record he had nothing good to say about Bradley and once again without actually saying this is a bad signing, he said it is a bad signing.

Mediocre implies average yet he got $2-3 million per year more than he deserved and 1 year too long for a sociopath.

If the guy hits in the playoffs he can do whatever he wants.

I look at it like this

Statistically its a good signing and if he plays 120 games thats fine.
On the other hand putting Milton Bradley into a pressurized situation is not smart

So 1 good 1 not smart= mediocre

According to the Sun Times

"The contract pays $5 million in base salary in 2009 and $9 million in 2010 -- with a $4 million signing bonus split over the two seasons -- with $12 million due in 2011. But a multilayered set of clauses turns the final year into a team option (with a $2 million buyout) if Bradley's health becomes a serious problem this season."

So the cubs are paying Bradley $7 million this year and $11 next year, and if Bradley doesn't stay healthy then the contract becomes basically a 2 year $20 million dollar contract (with the buyout).

It's not a terrible contract, certainly there is risk with Bradley but if there are payroll restrictions Hendry is dealing with (why I assume they did not go after Abreu) then i think the risk is acceptable.

AMEN!

He can be my Cliff Levingtson GAME TIME! Cliff did nothing all year and when the playoffs came he showed up. Plus he was the guy that led the pre game huddle with a GAMETIME before every game

I just want Playoff caliber guys! Might sign Gaetti on Aug 31!

Stone's arrogance and bitterness is almost funny. This clown thinks he is smarter than everybody else in baseball. Funny thing though, no one has ever offered him a job in the baseball side of things. Heck, I don't think he has ever even been interview for those types of jobs.
He is probably the most over-rated guy in sports.

"For you youngsters out there....." He's a pompous jerk and people in baseball know it.

The only grudge here is Stone with the Cubs.

Frank, if you had a show and took Cub shots all day, I would have no issue with that as I know it would be out of your true love of the Sox, not the fact that you got fired by the cubs. Plus, you might be able to provide more info than Stone does these days.

And Stone did (and still does) have a role in a Vegas team if they ever came about, which was about a 20% chance before Washington.

Frank, I have seen plenty of your comments and I just don't think you can compare to the smugness (word?) that Stone exhibits.

Remember, he never says anything bad about the Cubs and I agree that Hendry should have stepped into the whole Dusty v Stone fight, but not for the same reason Stone thinks. The simple reason that this shit should have never taken place and Hendry should have called Dusty and the players to shut up and play.

I used to look forward to Stone. When they said he was coming up, I would stay tuned, now when they say he is coming up I change the station or go and do something else. Similar to the North effect, which is really bad! It's one thing to have a show that is not good, but to have something that is so bad, you wish to turn the station off, that should be a concern of station ownership.

My quote of Ivan's (and I'm assuming his comment as well, but I don't want to speak for him) had nothing to do with Stone.
