I always here his voice asking questions in Cubs, Sox, and Bulls press confrences. Who is he doing it for. Where does he file his reports? I know he works for ABC radio but why do they need a Chicago beat guy. Does he just go to these press confrences for his own enjoyment and play the tapes back to family members?

Les does have his own website, and I think that's what he's getting content for.

http://www.grobber.com/

Looks like he is trying to fund it mostly from donations via Paypal.

Your kidding me. How much money can he make on his own web site? I think he just uses the web site as a reason to get a press credential. That way he gets free meals every day.

If he's still employed by ABC Radio, then that would be his main paycheck, and this is just supplemental.

I heard that he works for ABC radio after seeing him on CLTV. That's how they intoduced him. I just don't get what he does for them. I'm just curious where he files his reports after covering Chicago teams all year.

I think he's been reduced to being a stringer.

Grobber was on the Levine/DeFalco show this AM talking about the Elia tirade. He and Levine spent WAY too much time licking each other's bungholes.

Les is like stinky cheese, most dislike it, but those who love it REALLY love it.

What is Carmen doing working on a Sunday? If you are Spaceball, why dont you work on building that bench and get someone else in there to work with Levine. Granted, I believe that this suits Carmen better than middays, but even so, come on, how low rent is it to have one of your regulars also a filler on your Sunday baseball crapfest.

I think that when it's all said and done, Carmen working on Sundays will be the least stupid thing Jeff Schwartz does during his tenure @ AM1000. While dumb, he's much dumber things yet to come.

I do agree with that, I just equate it to Mully, popping in with Jesse for Duck and Cover. Just seems a bit strange to me.

I agree. Carmen also works NFL sundays. What a slap in the face to the bench guys looking to fill a 40 hour work week. More power to Carmen if he wants to do it. I'd take the extra money too but man that shows you don't think much of JD, Hood or Dalgan.

I'm thinking Dalgan didnt work because of the Bulls game. But, yeah how about JD who Mac says is better and better each time he hears him.

JD reminds me of a used car salesman. He's slick and fast talking but it just seems like a staged on air persona.

Grobbers act was good for it's time but nowadays, nobody really is so insane about sports like he is.

Don't for get that grooling hour prep time. Yeah, nobody's gonna shed a tear for him. It's not like he's mixing cement or laying bricks 6 days a week. How tough is it to give an opinon and then back down from it once somebody confronts you.

Well said Beardown, it does across as an act - he's like an actor reading his lines when he gives his "opinion."

Yeah, I was being sarcastic. All of these guys can tell me how much more work they put in than the 15-20 hours on the air, but I still think its a whole load of crap. Most of them do the same amount of research as we do, watching some sporting events at night and on the weekends. The majority of the rest of us are actually working 50+ hour work weeks and fitting the watching of these games in our limited free time.

Well said Greg. They are so full of shit. I would love to be able to say that watching and reading about sports was work. My wife could stop bitching then, not that it does her any good. The production crew does most of the work and the "talent" gets the credit. Terry's daily commute far exceeds any prep work that old bastard does.

That still holds true even when he broadcasts from home.

Les not having more airtime on either Sports Talk Show is a crime. He can recall games and moments of games that occured last night or 25 yrs ago like it happened yesterday.

Les was not all about Les as other hosts are and maybe. Les was a man of the people and gave callers a chance to give their thoughts, opinions on the teams.

I hope the Grobber gets on the airwaves REAL SOON.

Hey, Hey. My guy Jose from Deerfield. Welcome aboard. I agree with you Jose, Les should be on the air regularly. He's not much of an "entertainer", but I like his angle. He shoulda taken me to that All-Star game. Maybe he'd still be doin overnites.

Well said my man. Les provided me with someone to drunk dial at 2 a.m, and didn't call and bitch me out about it the next day.

He had a different style, but his show was perfect for overnights back on The Score. If no one wants him to be a regular host, then one of the stations should at least hire him to cover one of the Chicago team's beats (more so baseball or football).
