Just don't get between him and the post-game spread. He was a portly fellow.

If they wanted to gamble on a Ex-Sox hispanic coming back from injury, I'd have rathered Freddy Garcia.

I'm scratching my head over Bartolo's signing. I bet the White Sox didn't pay much to sign the veteran righthander, who had back trouble when he briefly pitched last season for the Red Sox...Brian "The Whipping Boy" mentioned it right after one of his "SCORE" updates tonight on the White Sox flagship...

It's a low cost move with little downside. If he's healthy and in shape, the Sox may have something. If not, they will move on.

Simple as that.

BD hit it on the head. It's low risk with the possibilty of a high reward.

If he fails or gets hurt you try a kid or make a trade at the deadline if you're still in it.

He is a fat ass. But MLB pitcher is the one position you can get away with being fat. There have been a lot of good fat pitchers.

I haven't seen him a couple years. Regardless, I'm sure he still looks like Harpo Marx.

Cooper will be all over the airwaves telling everyone how great he (cooper) is and how he thinks he can straighten him out.

While I missed the interview, I turned on M&H this morning and Cooper was wrapping up an interview. You are quite the soothsayer.

Honestly, I'd rather see the rookies.

I suppose he is insurance at AAA in case everyone else blows up.

Looking into it a little more, maybe he can be a 5th starter. I think they would have to skip him every few starts to ensure the innings don't pile up, which would allow them to get one of the young guys low pressure experience.

Good Dolphin, I tend to think that the 5th starter spot is exactly how the White Sox plan on utilizing Bartolo Colon...I think Colon, Lance Broadway, Aaron Poreda & Clay Richard are just a few of the guys the Sox will give a long, hard look when they report to Spring Training February 15th in Glendale, AZ.

thats a nice low risk proposition...the red sox do this every year...they get like 5 extra starters coming back from injury and it gives them great depth

It's just a 1 million dollar deal . Couldn't they sign both, bring em into spring training and see how it shakes out?

Ummm...yeah. There is this new thing in the AL called the designated hitter. With that, yeah...the pitcher does not really bat so much.

just yanking your chain dude.

...And if they wanted to sign a fat fuck, I would've rather had Alex Fernandez or Wilson Alvarez. I wonder what those guys are tipping the scales at these days.

he is a 36 year old , fat , mexican , lazy , pig!

But according to Coop, who is also kind of fat, Herm Sneider , who is a fat pig, said he is "Structurally sound." and "Of course he is going to start, why would you ask this"

Yet, the contract calls for him only being paid 1/6 of the $1 million due if he is released?

Hey, Andruw Jones was released too! Another fat guy now! All upside and cheap!

OK Deal!I agree BD! It is as simple as that and thus no credit should be given to the guy who rolls the dice with $100 on Double 6's!

I agree most of the time it is worth the shot and this is a situation that only someone who knows how much weight Bart is over or under his ability to play could tell you.

But if this is the mantra of the Sox, I would have taken a chance on Willy Taveras? brad Wilkerson? Jay Payton? Cliff Floyd?

Or Jon Garland? Oh yeah, he wasn't anything special, Tony Armas, Freddy Garcia, Jason Jennings.

Rolling the dice on so many more players before Colon.

Right bf. If Colon doesn't work out, its because Kenny is cheap. If he's an All Star, Kenny is lucky.

So if Colon doesn't workout Kenny did a good move because he didn't spend anything, and if Colon does work out Kenny is a genuis! You can't be in a win win situation everytime???????

You really need to learn what a no-lose signing means.

If they cut Colon the first day of Spring Training, it cost them whatever small amount of money he paid and whatever food he ate at breakfast.
If he ends up being an upgrade over a pitcher that would have made it then it was a good move.

At worst, this is a move that doesn't matter.
At best, this is a good move.

It's not a win-win situation. It's a nothing-win situation.
