I guess maybe the rationale is that if you're paying a guy that much, you better win every book. I'm not saying I agree with it, but that was probably the rationale.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

Maybe you just fire Larry and Hamp, move Mully and Hanley back to 10-12 and put Mac on Mornings with somebody else.

I remember reading that Hamp only signed a one year deal. They can put Larry back on the Bears beat if he's still under contract.

It's not like Mac was making that much compared to others that were fired. He wasn't over a million. I think he was 700k. I think the total money of the show was the issue. Gotta figure Jurko and Harry make 300k or 400k. So that's about 1.5 million for the show.

Most shows only have 2 guys. They had three.

Beardown, "Hampton & Holmes" is awful sports talk radio, and #99 can't complete a sentence without stuttering. When will "SCORE" management wake up & realize that LoHo & #99 simply suck?

good f-ing luck there Pastor

If god forbid, I allow thoughts of the Fuel Crew riding again enter my frontal lobe, like a sequel being better than the original movie the return of the fuel crew....could it happen?

wind in the sails of a rejuvinated Boers with Mac on board.

Dare to dream, if this is the change that Obama was talking about, maybe I have to rethink my position on that socialist, quit my job, wait for my government handout and start working on the Burris campaign for his bid to keep that Senate seat.

Pastor is a idiot, you let go of someone who is part of the #1 sports show in a major market because you want to try something different, well pastor will be trying something different when mac goes back to the score and kills espn in the ratings. There are money moves, moves to just make and move and stupid moves, this is a stupid move, simply moronic.

Shocked , stunned, disappointment. Funny how Harry , the least talented guy at the station for years survives another firing of a teammate. He's tit's on a bull and the callers who ripped him today about his quesioning or the lack there of during the Angelo segment has me scratching my head on why you let the wrong guy go today.

The good thing is Dan won't go hungry as I'm sure Allen brothers will send him a care package of meats. Kiss that spot good-Bye.

I like Carm as much as anyone else here, but he does not command enough respect from Jurk and Harry to keep that show on track.

Mac isn't working mornings, he had said so in the past. I don't know how he feels about working 10-12, but it's possible they dump Lawrence and Hampton and move Murph to their slot and give Mac Murph's spot.

Yeah. He did mention that meeting and that they were listening to his show from Bristol. Maybe this came from Bristol. Mac wasn't ESPN enough for them.

Very well said, Grid. I echo a lot of those sentiments.

I'm fairly new to the "corporate world," but know enough that its the most 'what have you done for me lately' mentality on earth. MJH was my sports lifeline when I was 1400 miles away during Ocotber 2005, and I'll never forget that, along with the countless laughs I had at the show, and drinks I had with some of you fine folks at various station events. I know we still have the board here, but remotes and board gatherings won't be quite the same.

and I agree with bigfan; I enjoy Silvy and Waddle (and Carmen), but they indeed are no MJH.

I wonder if this was Bristol University's call to let Mac go...After all, they're the ones that also fired Pittsburgh's Mark Madden. Unlike Mac, Mark's bitter comments about Sen. Ted Kennedy's health cost him his job.

Very stunned and disappointed. It looks like dark days are ahead for ESPN 1000. It appears tonight will be the last broadcast of "The Show" with national programming returning to weeknights.

I don't think Carm, Jurko and Harry are going to be the permanent teaming. Maybe Waddle and Silvy eventually move to afternoons, with Carmen, JD and Hood moving to middays? I certainly hope we don't see them scrap the midday show in exchange for the Herd in the near future.

Why cut him loose and give The Score a chance at eventually signing him? This is just a dumb dumb move.

Mac, I wish you the best my friend. To everyone eles at 'MVP, their local hosts are all better than WSCR's... 'MVP's down fall is going to be because of added national programming and not because of their remaining talent, but there is a hole without Mac. It's a shame.

You are not looking at the big picture. Jurko and Harry better dust off the resume's because they will not be renewed when their contract is up. They are purely on lame duck status right now.

Luckily for them, they both have plenty of FU money.

Trust me, this had nothing to do with the latest book. Mac beat B&B most of his 7 years. He was #1, for all formats, with men, a couple of times. Top 3 almost always I think.

They would have got rid of him if he was number 1 in this last book.

Jim Pastor didn't need to say "we want to try different things" in regards to Mac's sudden dismissal from ESPN Radio 1000. That's uncalled for...

Pastor is giving a company line.

The economy may have played a part in it. Any chance to save money looks good for the bottom line. Mac's shaky track record at pissing the wrong people off, probably played a part in it to. I'm sure his recent comments about Mike & Mike were not looked favored upon by corporate.

It was probably a combination of his track record and trying to save money that let to the decision, a poor one nevertheless.

I stated I think that dark days are ahead for ESPN 1000. I don't listen to the station much these days, not for anything they did, but I'm more into WLS right now. However, the remaining local bench will need to work together. I truly believe that despite the national ESPN syndicated crap, ESPN 1000's local bench is far superior to WSCR's. Carmen will be put in an awkward spot and I wish him the best. Silvy and Waddle, though are not MJH, should not be considered a knock. MJH were just at a level unmatched by any other sports show.
