What the fuck Kenny?? A 1 year deal with an option worth between $6-$8 mil?? Garland would be PERFECT for this rotation, especially at that price. This is really disappointing.

Maybe Garland did not want to come back.

He's not a strikeout pitcher, but his K's per 9 steadily declined last year. He'll probably put up decent numbers in a park that has some deep crevices, and in the NL. In the AL (especially pitching once again at the Cell), he would put up mediocre numbers at best. I'm glad he's not back.

Colon and/or a rookie 5th starter, for a combined $2mil at most, is better than depending on Jon Garland and paying him $8 mil.

Frank its 6 million and Garland will probably win more games than Colon and the rookie 5th starter combined. If the Sox sign Garland he would be # 3 starter!

I couldn't disagree more Frank. Colon's fat-ass won't make it out of spring training. Garland is the innings eater this rotation desparately needs. $6-$8 mil on a 1 yr deal is not a big commitment for a guy you can pencil in for 30+ starts and 200 innings. This rotation looks pretty good to me....

Buehrle
Floyd
Danks
Garland
Richard/Poreda/Marquez

I'd be surprised if the Sox add to the payroll at this point without subtracting at the same time.

Over the last 3 years Garland 42-28 Buehrle 37-34. Logical enough?

Illogical, WWN. Use something other than wins as your criteria for analysis.

D-backs get Garland for just over $6Mby Ken Rosenthal

I see math is another one of your strong suits. 6m -1m = 5m

I'll take my chances with a million dollar flyer on Colon (Freddy Garcia, etc) or a rookie. You guys that want to sink or swim with Garland at $8 million, have at it. Garland had some great games in 2005, but I've seen enough of him to know that I don't want him on the 2009 White Sox.

Oh, don't bother throwing certain stats in my face come August because AL > NL, and Every other division in baseball > NL West.

......and I agree with RFDC.
