All he's doing is sabotaging any legit White Sox talk by bringing up Quentin batting leadoff. What a moron. And Paruch is worthless and provides no input.
Murph is saying that Owens can't bat leadoff because he has a .250 OBP. Yeah Murph, that was from last year's major league stats encompassing all of 16 at bats. SIXTEEN!! I'm not saying Jerry Owens is the second coming of Rickey Henderson, but he has a .320ish OBP in his major league career which in total amounts to about 1 full season...and in the minors his OBP is about .350ish.
So just go back to talking about the '69 Cubs and stay out of White Sox business.

While reading the OBP's for the current players they used Major League numbers. He said 'Getz only had a .286 OBP'. He has 7 at bats in the majors ya dumbfuck. Talk about using a small sample size to support an arguement. The last 2 seasons in the minors he had a .382 and .366 OBP respectively. I know he's not an ideal leadoff man but he's not nearly as bad as Murph is trying to make him out to be.

Murph isn't a good fit for anyone. I was off work today and had the misfortune of listening to this dick, Murph really sucks.

He yells andinterrupts and really has NO real knowledge of what he is yelling about. He's embarrassing for a station in a major market. He's horrible.

Interesting match-up, might actually give a listen tomorrow if this is going to be a definite pairing going forward.

All of this talk of Mac coming back to WSCR as a fait accompli is a bit premature, IMO. Given the current economic situation, I don't think there is that much money out there for sports radio hosts. I remember Mac saying he will not roll out of bed for less than 350K. Perhaps he will need to rethink that position.
I am not sure, but I think both Berns and the The Diddler's contract are up this year. That means there will be three heavyweights vying for a finite amount of sports talk money. We'll have to see how this plays out, but I don't think anything is a done deal.

Not sure. Mac seems determined and sounds like he has some irons in the fire. Who knows what 670 has planned for b&b, one of them could go. On the other hand what incentive does 670 have to hire him? They are going to smash ESPN in the ratings. A lot of radio hosts have been shown the door this year and they aren't resurfacing yet. I don't know if they have contract issues or if some of them just suck.

Craziest thing is Eric Ferguson is still employed making over a million. I can't explain it.

Does Murph realize that only the moronic sees this Quentin leading off as a good thing? To have your top hitter who won't have as many chances to drive in runs is something only the stupid would believe is a good idea.

Thankfully, Quentin isn't the prima-donna that Soriano is; so this whole "vast-conspiracy" bullshit of Murph's holds no water.

The one thing Mac has proven that no other sports talk host can claim is an ability to transcend the sports talk audience. He was pulling in great numbers in comparison to regular formats. The SCORE should look at him as an opportunity to capture new listeners and absolutely dominate a prime demographic.

If Espn goes national the score will dominate anyway. Lower your IQ several points and think like a radio exec for a minute. What incentive do they have to hire Mac at what could be a hefty contract if they are going to pummel ESPN in the ratings anyway?

There are a lot of variables here. All of which have an effect on whether or not he will be on the radio again. I think he will but I won't be shocked if it goes the other way or he is not entirely happy with it.

ESPN 1000 is not the only competition. It's a market with tons of radio station options. My guess is the SCORE would do it with the thought of increasing ratings as compared to other stations that are currently more popular.

If the people listening to WGN, WGCI, WBBM, WLIT, WNUA and WOJO didn't tune in to hear Mac the last 7 years I highly doubt they are going to do it in a few months. Steve Dahl listeners might still be looking for a show and Mac ALSers...how many are there that aren't already tuned into 670.

My point is that there were quite a bit of people who listened to MJH that didn't listen to other sports talk radio. I'm not a ratings expert, but they seemed to compete very well as compared to non-sports show options for the demographics they seek. There would be a large increase in revenue if they could do this for another time slot.

Mac would increase ratings in just about any spot on the SCORE with the possible exception of the B&B show. That means more advertising dollars.

The SCORE pretty much has #1 sports radio station sealed up now but they still have a long way to go to approach the #1 radio station. They probably never will but Mac would increase that market share.

I agree completely...my argument is that radio execs might not pay him what he wants to just increase the market share. They may be happy where they are.

There is also the question of who will be his partners.
