Does ESPN have a Transistion School to teach how to tease the next segment? Silvy seems to have picked this up from Greeney, and there is nothing that makes me turn the station faster. Its basically smacking me in the face and saying, Hey we are going to run 5 minutes of commericals, hurry up and change the channel

Yes, and Fixed.

Murph did (and maybe he still does) something like this where he would say, "and that's been 23 minutes of non-stop sports talk on 670 the Score." That was code for "we need to play about 6 minutes of commercials now to make up for it."

Yes, but I'm sure at someone else's direction.

This is management. I asked Craig about this once he said he just wants to keep people listening for 5 more minutes. I told him when it sounds forced or contrived people won't keep listening because it sounds stupid and smarmy, hell I roll my eyes and flip and I never flip. He said but if I can get them for 5 more minutes that is all I want.

I'm pretty sure one of us is stubborn and stupid, and I think I know which one, in this case at least.

McNeil, Silverman, and DeFalco use it more than they used to. It's going into every break now.

Greenberg's whole show is phony and contrived so it blends well. When the above 3 do it, it sounds like "hey let me bring this fluid show to a screeching halt so I can make something that is not really interesting sound interesting...it'll keep you on the edge of your seat for then next 5 minutes." Then they come back from break and it's a big let down. It rubs me the wrong way. Hood is pretty good at it.

I don't know about the others because I don't listen to them much.

The "teases" work. They piss me off, but they work. I still change the station, but if the tease caught enough of my attention, I try and go back and catch the story.

This happens on TV too...only sometimes they tease a story and you end up sitting through several segments until it is actually run. That is where the dvr comes into play.

I never did like the teases...I liked the ones who put out.

A big +1 for that...

I expect it out of Greenberg... he even flows into the tease pretty well, sets it up for a good twenty seconds, then may go down a talking rabbit hole for ten seconds, then throw to commercial. And typically, it is an item that is worth teasing -- some sort of a soundbite usually.

When the Chicago folk do it, it sounds really lame. They'll be talking about the trade for the Oklahoma City first round draft pick and then Silvy will say, "You know, I made a list of my top five trades that didn't happen. I'll share that with you and more, right after this." That sort of tease takes five seconds and is lame. Get me excited, give me a little bit more to bite on, please!

I change the station pretty much everytime radio goes to commercial.
and if i care little about the teased content i may not come back for a segment or two.

I haven't teased anybody in more than a month. Not publicly, anyway.

Understand the purpose of the tease, but rarely is the upcoming topic/issue riveting enough to stay.

I remember when Greenie was the king of the tease, but within the past few months the Score has clearly made it part of their game plan as well. Their effectiveness depends on who is doing them...B&B's are good because I care about what they have to say...Lawrence's fall flat because I just don't care.
The ones that really drive me crazy, however, are the news teases. "Coming up on WGN News...the popular food which could kill your children"
