If Joe Crede signs with the enemy Minnesota Twins, Scott Bora$ must have pulled some strings with that team. I don't think Crede's back will hold up on that piece of monkey crap up there at the Metrodome. :( Then again, I wonder if Mt. Guillen will erupt on Crede whenever the Sox play the Twins...

I would be very surprised to see his back hold up an entire season, much less an entire season on turf.

Being mainly an NL fan, I will ask a question that may be ridiculed:

Who was the Twinkies starting 3B last year?

Mike Lamb started the season at 3B but he was awful. Brian Buscher took over and was pretty effective against righties (.799 OPS). The Twins may platoon Crede and Buscher at 3B (Buscher hits left-handed) which will help Crede stay healthy for the entire season. I don't like this signing one bit (from a Sox fans perspective) and now there are reports the Twins may sign Juan Cruz. So much for the Twins not improving this off season.

The Twins look good on paper, but we'll see what happens. Ozzie has always said he wanted a young team with speed, now he's got it.

Sounds like the Twins will have started 2 different lambs at 3rd base the past 2 seasons.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Joe Crede has agreed to terms with the Twins on a one-year, $2.5 million contract

Crede can earn an additional $4.5 million through performance-based bonuses. Those incentives begin to tick once he reaches his 250th plate appearance and top out at his 525th plate appearance.

Fuck you Boras! All that bullshit for a 1 yr/$2.5 mil deal. For the last 2 years Joe has been SO worried about his free agency. He didn't have back surgery when the Sox wanted him to then he had the surgery when they didn't want him to then he disappears for 2 months during the season so he could rehab with his own people. I hope it was all worth it for him but it's hard (if not impossible) to justify his actions over the last 2 years for a deal like this, bad economy or not.

The Twins choked against the Sox, not getting over the hump, so this makes lots of sense for them. I could even see them holding Crede out for most games except when they play the Sox. An amazing clutch hitter.

I know you gotta improve the team and flipping personnel is the name of the game, but man, every time a piece breaks away from the 2005 team, its a downer .

Isn't that how cub fans are justifying the loss of Kerry Wood??

I'm not missing him terribly, but $2.5 mil + incentives? That's it? Even given the state of the economy?

I don't blame the Sox for letting Crede go. It is time to find out if Fields is the 3B of the future or not.

RFDC, I don't think Joshua Fields is the future at third base for the White Sox, but isn't it curious that Dayan Viciedo, the 19 year-old unknown, has been assigned Crede's old #24? Besides, you read it here first...Joe's back will tighten up and won't allow him to play a full season at the Metrodome on that FieldTurf. Besides, Comcast SportsNet's Chuck Garfien hinted tonight on "SportsNite" that Joe might be DH'd up there as a result of his back stiffness.

The Sox didn't let Crede go, he walked. The Sox wanted to sign him to an extension, even while he was rehabbing his back injury, but Crede and his dumb fuck agent wanted to test the free agent market. 1 yr/$2.5 mil. They failed that test.

Crede was never coming back because of Boras. The option to keep him was never there due to the almost non existant relationship between Kenny, Jerry and Boras, which I think is one of those issues that defines Jerry as "The Chairman"

If you bow to Jerry he will always take care of you and you can throw out his loyalty to you. Boras didn't work for Jerry, Boras has a job to get his players the most money he can get and Jerry hates the way he does business and thus criticizes him publicly. You never hear Boras talk poorly about a team ever because it doesn't help him in the long run. Don't think Jerry and Kennys public feud with Boars helps them either.

Boras has not had a very good off-season. I couldn't be happier.

I don't know what everyone is worried about. Crede will not have a full healthy season and for every clutch hit he has at the end of a game he has two pop ups to shallow left field. Kenny tried to make him a part of their long term plans on several occasions but he refused. I hope Crede fails miserably and takes the Twinkies with him.

While I agree the likelihood of Crede being healthy most of the season is slim, I think it is a good gamble for the Twins.

Sniff. So sad. Well, not quite what I had in mind, but at least Ozuna seemed to have a following when he was cut. Don't know how Luis's shaky ERA kept McCarthy at home but he got through the playoffs without screwing things up.

I love Sox fans reponses! . No mention of the Cubs or Wood in the original comments and yet somehow every Sox fan replies with a Cubs comment? Even when they know they shouldn't because it makes them look sooooo jealous, they just can't stop themselves. Some government funded study should be undertaken for this.

Yet, I agree Crede will not last in Minnesota. Then again I don't think he would last in Chicago either. Why should I?

$2.5 million and they couldn't sign that deal?

1 Cubs reference and label all sox fans as jealous?Tell ronnie woo woo i said hey.Did you guys clinch yet or are u guys waiting til april this year?

More power to him if that happens, but I sincerely doubt it. The Sox have to win at the baggie if they want to even think of contending this season.

He'll have a hot April and then suck from there. Joe Crede has had one good offenisve season. He built his reputation on defense, and that has left him. It was not a matter of him getting to balls last year. He was horrible on throws.

At this point in time I am happier with what the Sox currently have at 3rd.

Good Dolphin, are you sure about that? I'm as interested in anybody in Dayan Viciedo, even though he's been assigned Crede's old number #24, plus I want to see if Joshua Fields has improved his defense as much as I've heard in the offseason. As for Crede, I don't think he's going to last half a season on the piece of crap the Twins still play their home games on at the Metrodome with that nagging back pain of his.

Why would it matter if the Twins have turf? The infield is dirt anywhere. Its not like football.

When he hits, he will be running on turf. When he chases pop fouls or anything in the outfield, he will be running on turf.

With the amount of errors he had last year, its hard to believe he was an all star.

When he dives for the ball, as he frequently does, he will be on turf as well.

Here's a good bet- who plays more games this year Crede or Milton Bradley.
