George and Jesse had Kenny on today. I dont get Kenny though, he doesnt read the papers or listen to sports talk radio, but he knows about everything not positive said or written about the white sox. That guy has the thinnest skin of any coach or gm to come through town, yes, he has a WS ring, but he does come off as a giant asshat.

Kenny is a child, he wants softball questions, when he doesnt get it, he gets pissed off and some of the media backs right off when that happens. Lets say they had Lou on today, for example, and lou got pissy, he would be roasted.

Wait...didn't the great Dallas Green get just as pissed...without winning anything substantive here...is he a child as well?

And since when is defending your record to the print media here in the same fashion as which he was questioned the equivalent of getting "pissy"?

He can defend last year, fine, but he won one playoff game, so its a fair question to ask if he really thinks he improved the club this year, he didnt think so and branded it as negative, not really, it was a legit question.

The year before, he wouldnt even talk to the media about the 90 loss season. Dallas Green? That was 25 years ago and I dont get the comparsion, I am not pinning on the white sox in a whole, I still think they will win the division this year, but I stand by what I said, Kenny cant take heat, never has and never will. He is a very good GM, cant argue that, he just comes off poorly in my opinion.

No, it's not. It's asking someone if they have done their job, and then complaining when they tell you to F off. As to how he "comes off", it's amusing to me that you, a Cubbie fan would care or comment about whether he can take heat.

F heat. F taking heat. Just win baby

Dallas Green caught hell after '85, was criticized as an "old school/traditional baseball guy", "salty", maybe even "prickly"...but never a "child" for similar utterances...without a local ring.

When they have the GM on and the host opens with a dumbfuck statement like 'coming off an improbable division title' he deserves to get hammered. The title may have been improbable to the so called experts but it wasn't improbable to Kenny. 'All this does is help the Tigers compete with us'. George and Jesse had a BAD BAD BAD show!

Its not that I care, its just that I listen, I dont care if they are talking to Hendry or Kenny, I just find it funny how Kenny reacts to questions, its more then likely me nit-picking, but I dont think so much. Kenny has always been that way, I realize it, I just think its intresting.

Yes, just win, I just dont think that will be happening as much on the north side this year as others do, hope I am wrong, but I got a bad feeling..

Yes, god forbid we dont bow before the Great Kenny. But because Kenny said that, I feel he expects people to kiss his ass, they won a division, according to Kenny, that isnt a winning season, he said it today, so it goes back to my first point, its a legit question to ask what he did to improve this team to go further, he didnt answer it, thin skin.

I can tell you for sure that Dallas Green would get ticked even more than Kenny ever does now. Green still holds a grudge against me for the Elia tape. He thought I should have put the tape of the tirade "in my pocket" and not ever air it. Never mind the fact that the 3 writers in the room with me and Elia were going to print it the next morning and Dallas would have had to fire his good friend since no apology news conference would not have been held. Green always made sarcastic comments about me for the next year and a half until the night the Cubs clinched the NL East in Pittsburgh(Sept 24,1984).That night he told me he was burying the hatchet, but then in 1985 when they went back to 'sucking' he went back to holding a grudge. Fast forward to 1994,the day Sandberg retired(the 1st time),and Bruce Levine got Green to come on with him and myself on my then Mid-Day show on WMVP. Green gave me nothing but sarcastic answers while he answered Bruce's questions in a legit way. He even said he "only came on the show because of Bruce Levine". He was trying to make me look bad on my own program. (Hell, I could do that on my own, without his help!) It was at that point that I decided I would never deal with this guy again-and I haven't-not even when he managed the Yanks or Mets.
Elia and I are fine today, but I'm told that Dallas still is pissed at me almost 26 years later! Cool huh?

Kenny does seem to have a martyr complex, feeling he is unduly persecuted by fans/media etc.

He also seems to crave attention but doesn't like any criticism thrown his way. He is the most accomplished GM in this city but does come across as somewhat prickly.

Grobber, another DG comparsion? I dont understand what that has to do with apperance on the show today. I know the south side faithful is going to defend him, thats fine, but it doesnt take away the fact that Kenny expect the media to lick his boots and not corner him with questions he might not want to answer, that cant be denied, he has proven that and in a whole, the MGT of the white sox have proved to be that way over the last 5 years.

Kenny does come off poorly on his interviews, I am not going to argue this point, its been proven and to say its ok because some GM from 25 years did it, its a weak argument

Somebody mentioned Dallas Green and Grobber had an interesting Dallas Green story, who cares what it has to do with Kenny.

Looks like Vann is on his anti-Sox campaign again. The penalty is now a case of lager. You keep this up, and you'll be renting out the bar for me.

Kenny gets the red ass on occasion. That's just how he is and I don't care one way or the other. He's always going to be that way. Kenny's like that. So is Ozzie. So is Lou. But honestly, who cares? As long as these guys are good at their jobs (and I think they all are), the other stuff just makes it more interesting.

What I guess I am saying is that having dealt with both of these guys, I would muich rather deal with Kenny any day! True Kenny will tell you if he doesn't like the question(Jim Hendry is the same BTW),but they both can 'let it go' and move on. They do not hold grudges. Dallas was different. Again, I enjoy talking Baseball and the Sox with Kenny. He's different than Ozzie, but they both are always willing to chat about the Sox with you.

I don't care if Kenny gets angry with the media. So what? He's a good GM. That's all that matters. Most of Chicago's baseball reporters are weird, dumb, look funny, and smell bad. I wouldn't want to talk to any of those fuckers either. I'd yell at them if they asked stupid questions. I hear some of the post game questions on Comcast. We do have a stupid media in this town.

We also have a bunch of pussies in our media. Everytime Lou yells they all get scared and don't ask him anymore questions in the post game. Lou goes on a rant, then there is silence, then Lou says "Ok. Talk to you tomorrow."

Most of them just want to be friends with the team, see free baseball games, ask nothing questions and write nothing articles. I can't tell you how many times the media cracks up in laughter after Lou tries to make a joke. It's goofy but it certainly doesn't deserve wild laughter. Doesn't take much to entertain our stupid media. It's mostly them trying to stroke Lou.

Ah Les, you seem to be the one with the grudge about something that happened over 20 years ago. I think you should just let it go. :)

I never had a grudge against Dallas. I always appriciated him bringing the Cubs into the latter half of the 20th century. He got them into the Playoffs for the 1st time in my life.I defended him when he argued that the Cubs had a legal right to install lights when most did not.I defended his trade of Joe Carter and Mel Hall to the Tribe for Rick Sutcliffe when many still think that was a bad trade. The deal did not help Cleveland(but perhaps just the Blue Jays later on). I'm the one that had him on my program, and went to HIM to congratulate him when they clinched in 1984 and made the effort to bury the hatchet. HE is the one that always kept things going(with sarastic stuff etc). I wish the man well.
BTW, what is the genisis of your user name SCORE IS DOOMED? I've alway's wondered about that.

Les, it goes back to when the score had that halfwit Murph on in the mornings and the mike in the afternoons.
Back then Mac was putting out a quality show. Obviously, things have changed and no one, not even Bigfan, can tell me how to change my name.
Mac's show turned to shit, Murph still sucks and the mike has become Mr. Irrelevant.

Thats is all I am saying....nothing more, nothing less. I have said it a million times, kenny is a good gm, kenny deserves the credit he has got, but he is way to moody for my PERSONAL liking. Ranger, buddy, pal, rainbow wearing amigo, I have never gone on anything anti sox, if anything, I have gone out of my way to kiss their ass, they won a WS, what can I say, nothing. I like the cell bette then wrigley, the only thing I dont like is the thin skin of Kenny, Jerry, Hawk and Farmer, thats all and most of my sox fan buddies agree with me.....SO I AM RIGHT!!!!!!!

I guess I would rather be the fan of a team whose management has such thin skin that it chafes at even the slightest hint of criticism than a team whose management has developed skin so thick that it comfortably uses the "charm" of 101 seasons of futility as its main marketing strategy.

why would you change your ID? Don't you still agree with your assesment? Unless Kaplan is coming over to the Score too...

That's the thing no one seems to recognize. It is not just KW. He is representative of the corporate culture at 35th and the Dan Ryan. It starts from the top down.
