The Heartbreak, the real criticism of our fans(the guys that dont know whats going on at the game and just want to sit behind you and talk to whomever during the whole game, the meatball sox fans cheering for the Cubs to lose, no matter what the Sox are doing(those guys I want to punch in the face more than anyone else in life), Derrick Lee being stuck in the 3 hole, and Im sorry Im not the biggest fan of Wrigley. I understand it has historic value, but its old and I have been to other places that are 100 times nicer than this place. There I said it.

And any association with ultradouche Ronnie Woo Woo.

I believe the term is "uberdouche".

How hard it is to get information because the raging boobs that cover the Cubs give into the meatball fan with how they cover the team.

I hate the fact that the regular season doesn't mean anything. My enthusiasm for this team will be 25% of normal at best. The epic playoff failures over the last 2 years have all but killed any chance of me getting excited about a team that will most likely win their division and 95 games. Not even a first round playoff series win will get me back. When they get to the series I'll get emotionally involved again, until then, the hell with them.

Two complaints and they are character flaws on my part, if anything. I invest too much emotional energy into these gonnifs. I need to follow Mike's example, but I doubt I will. Quitting smoking and drinking was easier, although they are a continuing struggle just like being a Cubs fan.
The other irritation is my failure to ignore the Schadenfreude of others in their reveling over Cubs failures. Assholery gets my ire up, but I'd be better served ignoring it. I'd be better served by doing lots of things differently, yet I seem to ignore those other aspects of improving my life as well.

So be it.

We only have one person who could qualify to write for the Village Shoppers Circular covering the Cubs in Bruce MIles (who I consider excellent).

They give into the meatball by covering the stupid stuff and concentrating on meaningless stuff and overreacting to the silliest issues instead of covering the team.

A front page article comparing some dumb Zambrano comments to Michael Vick was the low point of all time.

cubbiegirl, it has nothing to do with the meatball fan. If a beat writer is too critical of the team they cover, they will either be removed from the beat or their paper will have limited access to the team. A Chicago major paper would lose even more money if they had limited access to any major sports team.

Couldn't have summed it up any better myself, especially a fanbase that's so obsessed with your team to the point that it seems that they care more about your team's losses than their team's wins...

Or posters on an internet fan message board that spends more time in the Cubs section than he does in the White Sox section.

Some of the other fans (the ultra-optimistic, the younger fans who know little or nothing about the team let alone the sport of baseball, the suburbanites who bring their annoying kids to the games).
The "Curse" bullshit.
The piss-scented ballpark.
The losing.
The fact that there is another team in town, with much more annoying fans, who focus all their energies on hating the Cubs.

Not being able to get decent priced tickets with a good view for a game.
A stadium that is crumbling.
A team that can't win a World Series.
Ronnie Woo Woo.
The continued butchering of the 7th inning stretch by annoying celebrities.
Seats at Wrigley that are uncomfortable to sit in.
Idiots who piss on the floor in the bathroom.
Idiots who piss on the walls in the bathroom.
Idiots who piss on the toilet seats in the bathroom.
Idiots who piss on each other in the bathroom.
Idiots who piss on themselves in the bathroom.
Trying to leave a game and having other Cubs fans pushing like they have a hot date or something.
Idiots who piss on people's lawns on the way home from the game.
Meatball fans who say "THIS IS THE YEAR!"
People who go to the games just to get stupid drunk and dont watch any of the game.
The Lou Brock trade.
Mark Prior's inability to finish out game 6 in 2003.
Kerry Wood's inability to win game 7 in 2003.
The media's portrayal of Sammy Sosa as a deity.
The inability for Rick Sutcliffe to finish off the Padres in 1984.
Watching my grandfather cry when the Cubs lost in 1984.

A stadium that is crumbling.....That also has no parking and, unless you live along the red line, takes two hours and real life version of Planes, Trains and Automobiles to get to.

Hoffy, that pretty much sums it up. The celebrity singers for Take Me Out to the Ballgame has to go. I know it was cute and fun at first, but it's neither anymore. Either play a tape of Harry or let the fans start it themselves.

Why not Len or Bob do it ???????????? They're both musically inclined. Another brillant idea by WWN

I would have no issue with this. Or if they split the duties between the TV and radio sides.

A guy in the sports biz, or a musical artist I would have no problem with.

I hate all the curse bullshit, just kill a fucking goat on Wrigley Field, I would like to see that.

And of course not winning a WS in 100 years.

But other than that, no problems.

I guess I am in the minority on this but I don't mind the seventh inning guest conductor and the interview. Yeah most of the time I couldn't care less about the singer, but you have those occassions when something funny goes down, like Ozzy Osbourne or Steve McMichael getting kicked out after he made a comment toward the home plate umpire in '01.

I like Len and Bob but them singing it just doesn't do it for me, same thing for Santo.
