Just curious and I am flipping the question over on the Sox board.

How has your attitude as a Cubs fan changed over the years towards the White Sox?

The Sox World Series made me understand the superiority of our brothers to the south.

I have come to realize the superior intelligence of Sox fans.

I should probably have mentioned my own attitude.

I used to hate the Sox.

But I joined a crosstown internet group in the late 90s and made friends with Sox fans and found they don't all have 3 heads and aren't all the spawn of Satan.

The only time I root for them to lose is when they play the Cubs. Otherwise it's like meeh.

I should say I was raised by my parents that I could bring home someone of a different race, religion, political party, ethnicity, country whatever you can think of heck I could switch teams and bring home a woman but as long as he or she WASN'T A SOX, Cardinals OR PACKERS FAN!

The Sox mean as much to me as the lint in the bottom of my pocket - I barely even think about it until I reach down deep and find it there and remove it.

Kind of like what they do to unruly fans who beat up 1st base coaches. Sorry, couldn't resist.

I HATED the Sox, when I was young. A great summer day was one where the Cubs won and the Sox lost. But over the years, I came to care more about the Cubs winning part and less about the Sox losing. I started going to Sox games during the 80's, but have gone to WAY more Cub games. I was real happy to see the Sox win the World Series, for my good friends, who are big Sox fans. But I still enjoy the Cubs wins vs the Sox, more than wins against most other teams. It's still fun to stir up Sox fans and in years like 2008, where the Cubs have the best record in Baseball for a great deal of the season and the best record in the NL for the year and the Sox struggle to try to win a pathetic division, it is a lot of fun.

And what did that best record mean in October?

The Sox finished one game ahead of the Twins, and they also won more playoff games in 2008 than the Cubs did in '08 and '07 combined.

No. You finished the season tied. Don't argue, it's just going to make your jowels shake and get all red.

That and a quarter gets you a gumball. Your posting here is a prime example of why it sucks being a Cubs fan. Because for some reason, a shitload od White Sox fans like you have to say stupid shit like this. Dude, congratulations on your one game win in that best of five series. That's really great.

Steve posting should be a better example of why it sucks to be a Cub fan. You real fans get lopped in with losers like him.

And for the record, the White Sox played 163 regular season games last year. And at the end of the regular season, they were 1 game ahead of the Twins.

How many game were on the schedule again? I forget. Please help me. The number escapes me. What was it again?

#163 is a regular season game. Same as the Rockies and Padres 2 years ago, and the Cubs and Giants in 1998. Take it up with MLB if you have an issue with me being right and you being wrong.

As mentioned before on the board a few times, I grew up in a family divided. The old man is a HUGE Sox fan. He will let you know of his memories of '59. He has lots of great stories. Unfortunately, he also was working 14 hours a day to get our family through hard times. Therefore, I spent a lot of time with my grandfather. Gramps played football and we think he was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs though he would never talk about it. He loved football, college basketball, hockey, wrestling and most of all the Cubs. Needless to say, since I spent most of my childhood with him, I followed his loves. He didnt necessarily hate the Sox, but there was an implied lack of care for what happened on the South Side. My dad tried on occasion to bring me over to being a Sox fan. We went to all three of the last games against Seattle at old comiskey. We also went to a few games for fireworks shows. But it never could live up to watching Cubs games with gramps. Then, of course, I went to DePaul and found myself at nothing but Cubs games. I got sick of the Sox fans that shoved the late 90s and early 2000s down my throat. Finally, 2005 came along. While it was hard to watch, I knew the old man would finally see what he waited his whole life for. My brother had turned to the dark side. I called them after it happened to give them congrats. My passionate hatred has subsided quite a bit since then. I went to a few games the past few years. A good friend from work is a Sox fan and we talk about it quite frequently. I actually kind of like the new Cell. Im excited to have some new memories as an impartial Chicago fan. I think part of it is because I know Ill never see a Cubs world series and need something to believe in. Part of it is that Im sick of being a fan of losers.

I used to dislike(nearly hate) the Sox. I always hoped the Cubs would end their World Series drought before the Sox. Once that didn't happen, I've been mostly indifferent to the Cubs-Sox rivalry. I usually get aggravated at fans on both sides of town who start the Sox Suck, Cubs Suck stuff. It doesn't matter anymore.

Really never cared about the Sox one way or the other. Most Sox fans I know are normal, but the meathead ones (like some on this board) that suffer from some sort of baseball napoleonic complex and answer every Sox question with 'yeah but the Cubs suck' crack me up. They dont bother me as long as they get my order at the drive through right or dont screw up the change at the convenience store.

Lighten up Francis, it was a joke.
And it isn't irony, it's sarcasm. I guess you don't need to know the difference to get your GED or be a Sox fan.
