LA Derby:

Wide open race with many horses from the Louisiana Trail in it. Friesan Fire will be the favorite but my choice is Patena. Patena was a private purchase following his first dirt start in the Le Comte where he finished a close 3rd to Friesan Fire. He was given some time off to work with Rick Dutrow. After a few unimpressive works, Dutrow blew him out in a bullet at Gulfstream. I also like Flying Pegasus who had a horrible trip in the Risen Star to just miss to Friesan Fire. Sleeper for the bottom of tris and exactas is Terrain who hasn't raced in 4 months but has some bullets and takes the blinkers off today.

I agree. I actually thought he was legit before but this race confirmed he'll be deserving alot of dough on Derby Day. One thing that is a question mark was the sloppy going. I wonder how this race would have unfolded if it was a sunny day in La with a fast track.
