Of course you hated Rhodes--he was a populist!

He was annoying, but I think he was a good talker.

Did you ever see Nick Bockwinkel wrestle? He was a good talker, too. I loved him and Bobby Heenan as a tandem. Great insults from them. I once stayed on hold for two hours on the Eddie Schwartz show so I could talk to Nick Bockwinkel.

Yeah, a couple guys I knew wrestled for Windy City. They weren't very good.

You're right. I've seen tapes of Bockwinkel and he was quite good. It's funny because I don't think of guys from that era as being mic guys because it was so much less of the business back then, but I think he would have been fine in the modern era.

I find that last tidbit hilarious. I could have spent a lifetime and not come up with those two names if you asked me to fill in the blanks to "I once spent two hours on the _______ show to talk to _________"

Its always a good time to watch wrestling around WM time because everyone steps up their game. God did they fuck Jericho over having him have to wrestle 3 stiffs. Ill be smoking during that match. Fuck that.

Nothing says "this match is going to suck" like "guest referee". Nothing good ever comes of it. Only once can I remember a guest referee match ending in something that wasn't a DQ or a fast count, and that was 15 years ago.

It's jarring to see a woman on WWE television that isn't supposed to be a model or a stripper or something of that nature.

I know that was a joke but now that you mention it I hated all the populists. Rhodes, Austin, Bret Hart. It wasn't just a face/heel thing because I liked the Rock even when he was a face, but I don't think he was ever supposed to be as much of an "everyman". My reactionary ways were set from an early age.

Well, that was a roller coaster of emotion. Thanks for helping me pass an hour.

Is it really going to be Jericho vs. Snuka/Piper/Steamboat at Mania? Or is this just a set up to bring in Austin? I sure hope it is the latter.

Piper looked like he could still go, maybe, but Snuka and Steamboat did not look comfortable at all. I can't imagine they'd be in a position to take any real bumps beyond what they already have. And how could they perform any move involving body-lifting?

They can't. It will essentially be Jericho wrestling himself for 5 to 10 minutes while the old guys throw feeble-looking "punches" and "kicks." Trainwreck city.

Remember when the Iron Sheik won the Gimmick Battle Royal in 2001? He looked like he was pregnant and he didn't even move until the final "elimination." It'll be something like that, but worse.
