I apologize upfront if this has been posted. I did not see it anywhere. I will buy a copy because I like Mike North. I guess that makes me an idiot on this board. I don't agree with everything he has done professionally,though.

1) The hiring of a former waitress as a producer. (The other day on MITM,he said "hiring Jen was one of the best things that ever happened to me.") My Italian wife would have beat me senseless a long time ago for this hire!
2) Breaking up with Dan Jiggets (A partnership that worked.)
3) Driving Ann Maxfield nuts. She deserved better on-air treatment.
4) Leaving Fred Huebner "High & Dry" after Mike stepped away from the SCORE.
5) Walking away from a 6 figure offer. (Good Luck finding that again!)
6) Starting SPORTSWEBIO with no Fred Huebner on original team.

But overall,I enjoy his on air style & sense of humor. I always thought he treated his callers with respect,too. I guess that "isn't hip" nowadays. The Dan Bernstein gimmick of being an anal retentive wise ass seems to have rubbed off on some other young wannabes on the SCORE. Overall,my listening to sports radio has dropped off about 80% since North has left.
I do enjoy reading this board,though. So feel free to rip away!

Seriously, why would anyone be interested in Mike North's life. He got a job, drank a lot, never prepeared and admitted it, made a fool out of himself, got rich doin it, failed at it, blamed others for it, got fired, is a racist, started dream website, failed at dream website, is sexist, claimed to have invented internet radio, lost in morning cable land where no one watches and now planning on being an internet star with thousands of other competing against him.

There. Save your $20.

If more people on this board buy his book than buy Fixed Glee's book, Life Cycle, it's a shame.

Mike North has a new book coming out May 15th called "Settling the Score: Talkin' Chicago Sports". The book is reportedly equal parts autobiography, tell-all, opinion piece, comedy, & promotional material. The paperback book is co-written by Steve Silverman, published by Triumph Books, is almost 200 pages long, & comes with a list price of $16.95.

Please explain. Dolphin and even Bigfan have said they dont mind Mike in the right situation. I gotta know why someone would spend their money on this. No one bought the CD he made. Nah,I'm just fooling. I am envious though. He made lots of money doing something a lot of us wish we could do. My view has changed a bit (about Mike) after the on-air mistreatment of Ann Maxfield,the Frankenstein creation of "Jen-Jen",leaving Fred Huebner out in the cold,making jokes about Ron Santo's double amputation,etc.

OK, the first sentence will be the autobiography, tell-all, opinion piece, and comedy. ("I wuz borned in Chicahgo, once Terry Boers forgot tuh flush in da Score john (whew-ee!), Kyle Orton is da greatest Bear QB of all-time, and hows can ya tell a Mexican from a Chinaman? Cuz da Mexican is wearin' a sombrero.") That will be followed by 200 pages of promotional mnaterial telling us how Mike North is the greatest radio host, TV host, handicapper, high school basketball coach, Internet entrepeneur, hot dog salesman, musical performer, husband, friend and mentor to blond cocktail waitresses, dog-owner, and all-around man-of-the-people who grew up on the streets and made it big.

No thanks, I'll pass on reading this book.
