Looks like Garry Meier won't be joining Mike North - he's just been hired to do 1-4pm at WGN.
I can't stand Garry solo, he's like Bernsie solo & vice-versa.

Something tells me the voice of Cliff won't be far behind if this story is accurate. Anyway, Garry Meier was a really good second banana when he worked with Steve Dahl for some 15 years and then with Roe Conn before he left "The Big 89" WLS-AM in a contract dispute. The last time Garry flew solo was on the former 105.9 WCKG before they "Fresh"-ened their format over a year ago. If memory served, Garry hosted a "mid-morning" show that started at 8a weekdays following "Opie & Anthony", which seemed a little unusual given the fact most morning shows start at 5, 5:30 or 6a Monday-Friday. I'm not sure it's going to work out over the long haul for Garry as a solo host if WGN 720 has indeed hired him to host early afternoons in advance of Steve Cochran, especially with plenty of days where Garry will be pre-empted for Cubs' baseball.

I'm glad to have the option in the timeslot. I hope Garry sticks with the ranting style that he used during his tryout. If he goes back to reading shit out of the paper and taking calls like he did at WLS, WGN fans will crucify him. I do like Nick DiGilio however.

I think Garry is very funny. He gives me something to listen to now. Sports radio right now is a human feces parade with most of the "talent" a bunch of guys who should be working radio in a place like Squeallouder,Kentucky not here in the 2nd biggest sports market in the USofA.
