Today was just one of those games. Cubs hit a bunch of balls hard right at Brewer fielders. Cubs will win Saturday and Sunday and open up at home Monday 4-2. Anyone who blames Gregg for that loss today is pretty clueless about baseball.

Also the OBVIOUS reason he pinch hit Miles instead of Hoffie is if Miles is a SH. If he uses Hoffie the Brewers bring in the lefty and then Hoffie is done. Good smart move by Lou, just didn't work today.

It's the 4th game of the year. Everyone needs to relax.

So the CLOSER blowing the lead, and than taking the loss isnt his fault? Ok

If we didn't lose DeRosa and Wood for nothing like we did, Cubs win this game. This is such an inferior team.

This has been my concern as well. Bernstein mentioned that those spring training numbers meant very little and he's right. When the game has been on the line, Marmol has been solid while Gregg has struggled in all 3 appearances. I'm not saying a switch needs to be made now, but there's definitely cause for concern.

Keys in game #1...Miles being sent up to hit with runners on 1st and 3rd and hitting into a double play. Miles is a good bunter. they should have squeezed the runner in from 3rd and sent the runner on 1st to 2nd, with the bunt. Otherwise if the batter is going to swin away, I have to send Hoffpauir up, as he is MUCH more likely to get the run in there. He hits lefties well, so if they made a change, it would not have been a problem.

In the 9th inning ONCE AGAIN, Lou leaves Soriano in, rather than putting Reed Johnson in Left. If RJ is in Left field, he catches the ball hit over Soriano's head. Soriano made a nice catch earlier in the game, but remains a guy who is not great on balls hit over his head (near the wall).

Lastly-Gregg walking the leadoff hitter to open the 9th. Wasn't even a good hitter and then he has to face the top of the Brewers lineup after that.

Oh well. The Cubs have Zambrano going tonight and Dempster tomorrow night. hopefully they can still take this series.

too early to be weeping about anyone. lets get a couple weeks under our belts before drawing too many conclusions.

Does it appear to anyone else that Big Z is not as big as last year?

He looks to be in good shape this year, hope that continues throughout the year.

Wow, Lou was able to find Hoff-Power tonight. Let's see if it pays off.

How was Lou's timing off there? He had to pinch hit with Hoff-power there.

Cubs get a lucky call there, Soriano was out at 1st.

Did I just hear right that Angel Guzman does not yet have a major league win?

I meant it did not work out tonight. Whereas, we will never know if it would have worked out last night. Timing is everything, you know.

The Cubs should have at least 5 or 6 runs right now. No big hits so far tonight.

Well Cotts is in, might as well just give the Brewers this game.

Can we get Michael Wuertz back? He was mediocre, but he could get somebody out every now and again.

This bullpen is a mess. We have no lefty, our closer sucks, and the step/long men suck also. Besides Marmol, Lou has nobody he can trust. Hendry has really screwed this up.

A-Ram giving us a chance! For a ball that barely cleared the wall, he sure acted like he knew he got all of it.

Heilman hasn't been bad, but 2 guys can't make a bullpen.
