The nice thing about having guys like Reed, Fukudome, Theriot and Fontenot in today is they are really working the count on Jimenez and the Rockies middle relief is not good.

Derek Lee was already hitting .385 against Rusch and yet they put him in to face Lee? But I'll give lee credit, he's had a 3 hit day, including a hard hit double to Left Center. The error that allowed the 2nd run to scrore was huge. Those 2 extra runs in conditions like they are playing in are a big difference. The runs are not unearned, because the first out at 2nd base was recorded, prior to the errant throw. But that should have ended the inning.

Could it be the calls by the home plate umpire?Alot of those strike you'd need a 7 iron to hit it.

Maybe, but why was he arguing with the 1st base ump then?

I think it was some of the ball/strike calls.

But I think it was the other way around. I think he was pissed at some of the pitches called balls, by the umpire when the Rockies pitchers were on the mound.

There is still a big 0 in one column for the Rockie's hitters - too early to start talking about it?

It looks like Ted Lilly has a chance at a no hitter.

I've heard it's bad luck to discuss a no-hitter, Rick, like the one Ted Lilly currently is pitching.

honestly, even though I love to witness no-hitters, if he gives one up I won't be upset because it's too early in the season to go 9 innings in this cool weather for him - he has been pretty steady and the cubbies could do without the injuries.

Oh. I'm sorry. I take it back. Ted Lilly won't throw a no-hitter. He sucks.

Don't worry Dave, the update guy on 670 just told everyone he had a No Hitter just now too which is a much more powerful jinx than a message board guy. I'm super serial.

I know it's early, but I have been impressed with Fukudome and his renewed patience at the plate - if he can just keep up his confidence - he is still bailing out too early but staying in just a tad longer than last year.
