The Sox are reporting that DeWayne Wise has a seperated shoulder. I hope this means Brian Anderson is the new everyday centerfielder and they call up Chad Kroeter to be the 4th outfielder. I'm afraid they will give Jerry Owens yet another opportunity.

I just hope if they do that, nobody takes his hat while he's sitting in the bullpen.

Just heard that too ugh I don't want to see Owens near this team and am hoping for a trade even if Wise isn't going to be out long. I do really like the youth of this team though so unless a really good offer is available, skip it and give BA a real shot for a month or two.

Sucks that you're probably right. BA's looked good in limited action thus far, but as soon as he falters or the team faces a tough RHP, Ozzie goes with a silly L/R platoon out there.

40 man? LAst time I checked its a 25 man roster until the September call ups anyway.

It's a 25 man MLB roster and 40 man roster to call on for MLB service. Do you not know of the 40 man roster and its significance in MLB? I know you're daft, for the most part, but do you ever think before you post? Scratch that, I have over two years of history to draw upon for my answer.

how long is wise out for? if its going to be 6-8 weeks then they can put him on the 60 day DL which will temporarily open up a 40 man roster spot. Otherwise they have to take someone off of it and then hope they clear waivers.

As much as I don't like Wise's work, it really is heartbreaking for him to finally get into MLB on a full time basis only to go down with an injury.

The Sox only have 38 players on the 40 man roster so adding Owens won't be a problem. I still wish they added Kroeger instead because like GD said, I think Owens will get FAR too much playing time.

I'm not so sure about that. Ozzie sounded like he needed to be put on suicide watch after he learned that Owens would be promoted. Owens may be the one guy in the organization he likes less than Anderson.

I developed this elaborate back-story for the guy in my head after hearing him practically boo'd out of the game on opening day, the idea being that he had actually settled down in Charlotte with his wife and was looking forward to playing out the rest of his minor league career there before taking a job with the team in some other non-playing capacity, and that getting called up to play with the MLB club was the last thing on his mind, and he knew he wouldn't be good enough to hack it, and so on. The injury does serve as a depressing little knot at the end of the story, if in fact he'll be out as long as everyone's saying he will be.

Good Dolphin, I'll take you up on it, and I predict that's exactly what will happen...Even though Anderson's starting in centerfield today in Detroit, Ozzie doesn't care what you or I think. We can call the Ranger's postgame show, leave messages and texts like this all we want clamoring for #32 in centerfield. The bottom line is Ozzie can't stand B.A. and if he's not getting the majority of playing time in the wake of DeWayne Wise's separated shoulder, Anderson and his agent should be on the phone with G.M. Kenny Williams in demanding a trade out of Chicago!
