Pretty sure Jon DeWann predicted the biggest loss the Cubs will have is Jason Maquis. Based on Win shares and nobody to repalce everything he could do.

Marshall will be fine.

Although having him in the rotation leaves a hole in the bullpen...

Every year, Jason Marquis starts the season with a several wins. His stuff breaks well and keeps his pitches low. THEN! Summer comes along, his arm tires and he starts throwing the occasional meatball. Marshall on the other hand has not had a full season in the rotation yet. Is he great? No. But he is serviceable and costs a lot less.

Marquis is a very good 4th or 5th starter. He's reliable, but guys like him should be a dime a dozen. If Marquis ends up being the biggest Cub loss from the offeseason, they have real trouble.

The Sox would love to have a Jason Marquis.

Marquis can probably hit better than any current Sox centerfielder.

If guys like Marquis are a dime a dozen and he represents the BIGGEST loss from last season, how would the Cubs be in real trouble, if he's the biggest loss? It means the biggest loss, is a guy who is a "dime a dozen" type player...no big loss. Frank, did you eat a lot of paint chips when you were a kid? or were you just dropped on your head too many times?
