I think Harry worked for the company that moved the transmitting equipment in the studio when it became WLUP AM and he hasn't left? He could be approaching the current longest run in Chicagoland Radio on one signal? 20 years Harold? Maybe his alter ego, Terri H. has been there longer?

Anyone able to confirm his Dinosaur status?

Don't think his service is continuous, is it? Didn't he do "Harry and Spike" on another station (CKG?)? . What happened to Spike?

He's been around this dial for a while, but no where close to longest run at one station- Wally Phillips started at GN during the Civil War and stayed until mid 80s if I remember right....

Harry worked on CKG briefly as Pete McMurrays sidekick on the ill fated "Radio for Men" circa 2000 then it was ESPN who swept him away to do the ill-fated Harry and Spike afternoon show, this guy has more lives than a cat

I think that about sums up his radio career..

Let's not confuse activity with accomplishment. How this theatre major from
the North Shore gets to spew his sports ideas for this long on Chicago radio
is a mystery to me. The guy has nothing in common with 90% of the people
who used to listen to MJH. Harry T is the guy who argues that "he'd rather
do theatre with tons of hot girls, than play sports with sweaty guys" What???
And this clown is on sports radio? Ever since Mac has left, Harry T has been
in his own little playland, all the game shows, and pop culture. "The Cub should
retire Grace's number", "Trachsel is a great guy because I know him" etc etc.
The shelf life on this bozo expired long ago, someone has got to pull the plug
him before this listener returns.

The only more meaningless "longevity" stint is the time it takes for Harry to put his belt through his belt loops....

Does anyone actually LIKE/ENJOY HT anymore? It seems there are the straight haters, and those-like myself- who find him insufferable since Mac left. I obviously dont know the innerworkings of the station, but I guess salary and the ability to ruffle corporate feathers(Mac) will always be trumped by constant glad handing and rump-smooching(HT). Carmen just cant steer this wayward ship...

He's really more like Milton from Office Space. They stop paying him, they move his office to the basement, they take his Swingline but he just stays. Harry is in the rare position of not needing the money, so he can accept 20K a year just so he can tell his family he is in showbiz.

Harry also needs this job so he doesn't have to spend time with the wife and kids. That's his worst nightmare. He can tell his wife he needs to watch every game for his job. He can also tell her that he needs to go to bars cuz it helps the show to drink with listeners and sponsors. I'm sure he's even convinced her that he needs to remain fat cuz that's his radio image. So he can eat like a pig without her nagging him to lose weight.

I don't think his annoyances on the radio have anything to do with his marriage or personal life.

Since nobody's posted in this section since Thursday, thouhgt I would, does this one need Mac or what.

Since Harry was gone last week, and the Cardinals are playing well. but do you start to think we will hear the Cubs division is over and the Cubs are so going to the world series.

My thoughts on the Cubs is and I know they have to talk about them, but the Cubs motto for this year should be "Who Cares", it doesn't matter what we do, if we don't win in Ocotber. I think that is how they should play the season, should get the division, but it won't matter if they get swept in the first round again.

Winning back to back division titles for the first time in 100 years is significant. Having the BEST record in the league, with 97 wins matters. With each trip to the postseason, the Cubs increase the chances of accomplishing their goal, of a world series championship. You can't get one of those without first getting to the post-season. That makes the accomplishment vital and your "thought" stupid.

Steve, until they win the fucking World Series, not a goddamn thing matters. They could win 160 games, if they go 0-3 in October it is fucking meaningless. Can you take your picture with the "160 Win Trophy"? I think not. Give me the World Series and that will mean something.

Hey Dumbass, if they don't do well enough in the regular season, they do not qualify for the playoffs. That would make October insignificant to the team. That's why the regular season and doing very well does mean a lot. That's why it MATTERS, dipshit.

Can't win a playoff series, much less the World Series, unless you make the playoffs. To do that, you must do well in the regular season (with rare exception...see the 83 win Cardinals team that won the world Series).
That makes the regular season meaningful.

do not no but who cares? He started with a show with Spike.I give him credit because he has lasted a long time with no pretense that he is just a fan, even if his passion is just the Cubs.I admire him.

Gotta qualify for the post-season, in order to get playoff victories though. The regular season record determines whether or not the team may even compete for them.

After the latest ratings I guess Harry will be proudly continuing his afternoon comedy show for the foreseeable future.

God save us all . . .
