You will greatly diminish your defense on 2 of the 3 most important defensive positions, while increasing your offense in the 9th position. That doesn't sound like a good formula to me.

Yeah its not for everyone...would you greatly diminish your defense going to Beckham at SS? Is Alexei that good at SS?

Say Anderson is an A CF
Ramirez would be a C CF
Ramirez is a B SS
Beckham would be a B ss

If your weakening 2 positions then probably not a good formula...but if your going from an A to a C level fielder in CF and maintaing a B level player at SS...i think its worth it

You graded 2 SS's and one has played 13 games and the other zero at MLB level?

Im just using projections and predictions

my point is their both SS Beckham can probably be as good as Alexeieieiei defensively

Gordon Beckham has 4 errors already this year in Birmingham.

If the biggest problems on this team continue to be Alexei not hitting yet (he did the same thing last year), and Contrares not pitching very well early on (he did the same thing last year, and in 2005), the Sox are going to be at the top of this division all season.

The biggest problem is a tie between 4 and 5 starters and Homerun or nothing offense IMO

Yeah, those dammed homeruns. They had no part in October 2005, or the play in game last season.

The 5th starter has been worlds better than the 4th so far this year for the Sox.

Sorry frank I dont expect Bartolo to end the year with a 1.03 WHIP in fact I doubt he finishes the year at all.

And you know that scoring most of your runs via the homerun is NOT a good thing.

Thats what the Sox offense is built around, the homerun. And they play home games in a very HR friendly park.

They've also been scoring runs NOT via the hr, and tearing the cover off the ball as a whole. Example, Fields and Getz went something like 6 for 7 yesterday.

The only stat that stands alone as an indicator of how good a team is, is wins.

The Sox had the most HRs in the majors last year.
Who hit the 2nd least amount of HRs last year? The Twins
Who hit the 2nd most? The Phillies.

What does that tell me? Absolutely nothing.
