Maybe that's why Denver wanted to get rid of him. Maybe he wasn't drunk that night or any other night. This could have been the first time or the thousandth time. How do you know?

He performed well in Denver and I'm hoping he does the same here. I'm on his bandwagon until he gives me reason not to be. This isn't one. I doubt he would do anything that would jepordize his career and his health and I would think he knows how to monitor his condition.

Did you really want to go into another season with Orton as QB? Especially with Cutler available. I don't know if you are salty about Rex and I don't think you ever believed Orton was it but it is going to be a long ass season if you nit pick everything this guy does.

He is 25 and going out in the off season and having fun - I have ZERO issue with this. If this picture is the Saturday night before a game, then we have a reason to question him. Until then let the guy live a little. And just because he has diabetes doesn't mean he can't go out and have a few drinks, so not sure if that was what you were referring to about health problems.

You aren't allowed to have anything negative to say about JC the savior.

Even if it's a valid concern.

Seriously, though, I read somewhere in the past few days/weeks since this "story" broke that the guideline for diabetics is to limit alcohol intake to two servings and drink them slowly. Can't put my finger on where I saw that, though.

I've said it before. There is a reason that Denver was so quick to get rid of Cutler. Denver may have been wrong about it but there was something there.

You don't jettison a 26 year old franchise QB entering into his prime because of some hurt feelings.

Could be, but it was a little more than hurt feelings. His new coach (that he already didn't like much) and the owner lied to him. The Cassel thing didn't work out...were they going to keep looking or stick with him? He has been in the league 3 years and never had trouble in college.

No, I don't like the negative things said about Cutler. I will defend him until I can't defend him. I don't think we should be piling on here and I think we should be excited.

Most people liked Kyle Orton and wanted him to succeed. I don't know why you keep on singling me out especially considering I was right about 95% of the things I said about him.

Personally, I think the person this trade worked out the best for was Kyle Orton. He actually has competent offensive talent to work with and I expect him to put up better numbers next year than he did this previous year.

Go ahead and think I have some sort of bias though when you've admitted that basically you are on his bandwagon and are going to defend him blindly.

Of course you do. You love Kyle Orton, it's all sunshine and roses for him.

I liked Orton and wanted him to succeed too. I didn't think he was going to. I don't think you were right about what you said about him 95% of the time though. He had a high floor low ceiling. I wish him no ill will and hope he does okay out in Denver. I don't think he will ever be great and I'd bet no matter how bad Cutler plays I won't wish Orton back.

Right now yeah I will defend Cutler. He has never played a down for the Bears and I'm optimistic and excited. There is no reason to think he will completely save this team but there is no reason to pound on him for everything he does either. He may suck, but I'm glad they took that chance this time. Seriously, do you want him to fail?

Nas has a legit point but time will tell. Quit worrying about stuff that might or might not happen and let it happen. And yes I was playing the role of you.

I'm not really going to argue it but my posting history is clear. I never made a serious claim that Orton would be anything but an average QB and better than Rex Grossman which he is.

Cutler has a high ceiling. He's better than Orton now at roughly the same age. My problem has never been about who is better right now. It would be crazy to argue Orton and Cutler are equal. My problem is outside issues that caused Denver to sour on him quickly and the fact that the Bears made it much more difficult to improve the team with the loss of the draft picks. I believe the Bears went from being an average team with average QB to an average team with an above average QB.

Please don't be so negative. Only positive talk about Cutler is allowed.

Yes. Don't mention possible negatives. Super Bowl predictions and proclamations that he will be a franchise QB for the Bears for 10 years are the only allowable discussions.
