I have listened to this idiot rant on and on about the Sox in an almost laughable, homerific, pompous drum beat that right now, after listening to the umpteenth time he knocks somebody down who calls in with a viable topic to debate, mes thinking his fucking penis is somehow attached to Reinsdorf vagina, and with ever pro rant hes allowed to dig in the guts just a little bit deeper.

The White Sox, realisticly, will have a tough time winning anything this year with a piece meal lineup, a shitty closer, and used up spare parts as main cogs that should be on teams closer to a championship, in limited roles.

And nothing is gonna change that fact.

He is paid by the Sox to do a Sox show, so what would you expect?

Cup and FYI....I am pretty sure he is a score employee and he has been hard on the white sox when the play poorly, I think the shots taken at ranger here are not warrented, if anything, its Hawk and Farmer that are the homers, not anyone at the score.

didn't we hear that when the Sox were on AM1000, and Mr. Reinsdork did not like the "overly" critical Marriotti....that he supposedly pressured the station to fire Marriotti. So...I assume the same pressure may be there on the Score employees as well.

I'm not in any way standing up for Mariotti with this post. I'm just sayin...

Factually speaking, when ESPN Radio bought WMVP in 1998 for $21 million, including the radio rights at the time of the Bulls & White Sox, Uncle Jerry didn't necessarily want to give up "editorial control" when AM 1000 became the flagship of the ESPN Radio Network. Needless to say, when the controversial former Sun-Times columnist signed on to host middays when Tony Kornheiser decided to devote full time to "Pardon the Interruption" many years ago, Reinsdorf was not pleased that the flagship that carried Bulls & Sox games had a guy who wasn't afraid to fire shots in his column towards his two teams. It's widely believed that Mariotti was at odds with WMVP management off the air, and that Jay quit the station when he could no longer badmouth the way the Bulls & Sox were being run.

Couldn't agree more. I catch more games on the radio than I do on television, and I always stick around for the post-game unless I'm working with a music project. Throughout the duration of the offensive slump of the '07 season, and when the pitching/defense/hitting were all out of sync for the Sox at several points last year, Ranger took the problem areas of the team to task. I guess guys like Supercup and a few of the callers demand more, wish that Ranger would call for the heads of certain players or staff, but there's something that separates the fan from the broadcast guy, and that's professionalism - it has nothing to do with editorial oversight and just about everything to do with tact.

My views on the Ranger are well documented here. Ranger is just alright with me, even though he often offends my baseball sensibilities.

I would love to see some of you critics in Ranger's shoes and see how you would do it. He does a good job IMO....especially when dealing with the meatball Die Sox White fans....

Santo's ramblings and the "homerism" of the Hawk and Farmio are mutually exclusive.
They are both annoying for different reasons.

Spmack, I felt sorry for the Ranger the first time he did the postgame show this season from the Bullpen Sports Bar after the Twins beat the Sox 12-5...That was one of the worst call-in segments I've ever heard since the SCORE started carrying the Southsiders.

The Ranger dealing with the "South Side Simpletons", that's entertainment right there.

I think Ranger needs to be careful when he says Viciedo is 'only 19 years old'. If we have learned anything from Contreras and the Hernandez brothers it is that a Cuban 'year' is A LOT longer than a U.S. year. I'd say 19 years in Cuba is good for 21 in the U.S.

I like the way Ranger has progressed at this job over the years. I think he gives an evenhanded analysis of the Sox.

My only criticism is that I wish he was a little more of an "insider", but that is tough to do when they have him broadcasting from the studio rather than the stadium. I think the Sox would be creating a better broadcast if they brought him to spring training and originate the show from the stadium so that he could be more of a presence in the clubhouse.

Point taken, but even at 21 or 22 they can let him develop in the minors for a couple of seasons.

well, iam a cubs fan, but not a white sox hater at all, and this b cup wearing mong lashes out on every White sox fan who dare critiques this team, ozzies sometimes questionable logic, or offers any kind of opinion that makes the Sox look dumb, and sorry, its getting old.

if he wants to be such a team ass kiss, then why take calls in the first place?

The Poofer-"Hes only 19 years old" in SA years that means around 25

Good Dolphin, I think Chris Rongey has also progressed in the 4 years and counting that 670 The SCORE has been the flagship station of the Chicago White Sox Radio Network. For the record, the Ranger will be at "The Cell" tonight through Wednesday when the Sox host the Mariners. He'll be back at NBC Tower come Friday night when the Sox start a 5 game road trip to Arlington, TX next weekend. As for the "Insider" part, that's Joe Cowley's job...

I'd like for him to go on the road with the team as well, but I know this is dictated by the team. I still think it would result in a better overall product for the Sox. Then when some a-hole calls up Ranger can speak from authority when shooting him down.

Wishful thinking, Good Dolphin...I think WSCR 670 keeps The Ranger in the studio when the White Sox are away, and I believe he's an employee of the sports talker. The Sox do have a rare Interleague visit to Milwaukee's Miller Park June 12-14 to play their former American League rivals, the Brewers. That might be the closest to a road trip for Chris Rongey this season. If Steve Kashul can broadcast a Bulls/Bucks' road game from the Bradley Center on ESPN 1000 & the Bulls Radio Network, so can Rongey.

Wow. You must have called in been rightfully torn apart. A "s***ty closer"? Well, there goes YOUR credibility.

Ranger does his homer version much different than Hawk and Farmer. Hawk and Farmer, get outraged at calls as if we never get a call, or the Strikezone is different for us. Ranger doesn't get fired up, he makes possible excuses for everything or tries to see the good side.
Today was a fine example, within 10 seconds of him telling me the final score he says "but the good side to today" was Contreras's outing and spent the next 2 minutes talking about that. The outing was not that great either. 8 hits and 2 K's as his BEST outing doesn't exactly give the confidence I am looking for.
We all know the Sox are an oversensitive organization. From the GM to the owner to manager to the pitching coach. If Ranger said anything even remotely negative, he would hear about it in no time at all.

Halfpint, this is what I don't understand about some fans. What's wrong with pointing out various elements of a win or loss? Not everything about a loss is bad, just like not everything about a win is good. I do at least 162 postgame shows a year and I try to highlight as much about each game as I can...that means I'll talk about the positives of losses like I will discuss the negatives of a win. And I DO discuss the negatives...if you don't hear them, I can't help you. People will usually hear what they want to.
