Fans, that was quite a game this afternoon, and I'm surprised ESPN Radio's Chuck Swirsky has much of a voice left after this one. Besides, I'm a little surprised ESPN/ABC Sports sent their #1 team of Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson & sideline reporter Lisa Salters to United Center today as well. For those who missed this one, ESPN Classic is airing an "Instant Classic" of today's double overtime thriller tomorrow at 4p on DIRECTV 208. Set the DVRs if you missed out...

This is where I gotta call you out SHARK....ESPN/ABC had two choices today, either Cleveland/ Detroit which has been the most boring series so far, or Chicago/Boston which has been probably the most exciting series...so which one would you have picked?

The Celtics/Bulls' series has been more exciting than Cavs/Pistons, Spmack. They had the games on back-to-back, but ABC didn't exactly plan for a double overtime thriller between the Bulls & Celtics...I didn't think ESPN/ABC would send their #1 NBA broadcast team here today either.

I have zero faith that Gordon comes back, unless Vinny doesn't.

I agree with L-Ho today, when he said Rose should of punched Thomas when he didn't give up the ball and was fouled. Thomas needs to learn that he isn't a shooter, as much as he wants to think that.

SHARK, here's the reason why it shouldn't have been a question on why ABC sent the #1 team to Chicago..

Double-overtime thriller gives ABC a boost.
A classic NBA game gave ABC strong ratings on Sunday.

The Bulls' double-overtime Game 4 win over the Celtics drew a 4.0 overnight rating on ABC Sunday afternoon, up 33% from a 3.0 for Cavaliers/Wizards last year, and the highest overnight for an NBA Playoff game in the 1:00 PM window since Hawks/Celtics Game 7 drew a 4.2 last year.

The game drew a 10.5 rating in Boston and a 10.4 in Chicago.

Celtics/Bulls provided a great lead-in for the second game of ABC's NBA doubleheader, the clinching Game 4 between the Cavaliers and Pistons. The Cavaliers' win drew a 4.4 overnight, up 2% from a 4.3 for Spurs/Suns in '08.

Overall, ABC averaged a 4.2 overnight rating for its NBA doubleheader on Sunday, up 14% from a 3.7 last year, and the network's highest average on the second weekend of the playoffs since '06.

Consider where the games aired...The Bulls/Celtics' Game 4 was on ABC, or should I say "ESPN on ABC", while the Blackhawks/Flames' Game 5 aired Saturday night on Comcast SportsNet. At least you know where to find ABC, and everybody can watch it...Not to knock CSN, but if you didn't have cable or satellite...

Kinda hard watching TV without cable in this day of digital, my friend.Ive been at 15 games this year that they said were "sellouts" where there were enough empties in the stands to make me belive the Hawks are pulling a Cubs on the town.

Poofer- dont belive the hype mcdonuts trying to sell you.

I posted this in the Tyrus Thomas douchbag noimee thread:

Quote:
I don't know where these stats came from, but I got this from another board, so props to that guy:

In the clutch this season (4th quarter or overtime, less than 5 minutes left,
neither team ahead by more than 5 points), Tyrus made 20/23 FTs, 87%.

Rose 74.2% 31 att
Gordon 81.1% 37 att
Salmons 81.3% 16 att

Maybe he knew what he was doing after all. And during the regular season, Rose's FT percentage is only .5% better then Thomas'(.788 to .783). I am in no way saying what he did was right(he still needs his ass BEAT though), but it's not really that big of a deal. Hinrich, Rose and Gordon all missed some crucial FT's yesterday.

I don't really think it's that big of a deal, but for the sake of Thomas's career, he needs a good assbeating. It will do wonders for him.
