Scales becomes the new Cubs meatball fan favorite?

I think Hoffpauir might be jealous very soon.

This kid is sure playing like he wants to stick around the bigs.

It's not like Miles and Fontenot are tearing it up right now either.

Is it possible that the organization just missed on his talent for the last 10 years? Probably not. But at least he is contributing and making it interesting.

Move over Micah, your little brother Bobby is here to take your place. The Cubs thought they could hold down the greatest utility infielder in the history of the game, but he proved that they can't. Why do think it took so long for him to make it up to the big leagues? Does race have anything to do with it? I doubt Milton Bradley is the only Cubbie hearing all the racial taunts from the Cubs front office. The fact is that playing day baseball in wrigley is in Scales' blood, and I know that a 10-year extension will not be very far away. My authentic Scales Jersey is now on pre-order and I can't wait to wear it with pride. For now I will have to hold out with my Augie Ojeda throwback.

I don't do mults...

Quite frankly, I don't understand the purpose of even having one - why not be man enough to say what you have to say without hiding behind a mult?

I just don't get it.

Last year were Sox Fans "Meatballs" for Quentin / Rameriz love? What happened there??? WHERE WOULD ANY OF US BE IF NOT GIVEN A CHANCE????

WWN - it wasn't so much a slam on Scales as it was the Micah Hoffpauir for President meatballs that were saying that he should replace Lee full time.

Don't get me wrong - I like Scales and I have been on record as saying that I don't think Fontenot is a full time player and Miles sucks. So if Scales can get in the mix and provide some clutch hitting, I'm all for it.

I just figured after a day like today there would be all kinds of Scales love going on. I am trying to keep it in perspective - I don't think the Cubs organization missed on this guy's talent all these years - the difference between Scales and Ramirez and Quentin is both were highly regarded prospects and were expected to succeed. There are other comparisons to Scales out there, but Quintin/Ramirez is not the right ones.

Whatever happens with Scales, its a great story. And even if he sucks from here on out, he can always say that he was one of the hottest hitters on his team for a solid week in MLB. Not very many people can say that.

I hate to temper the Bobby Scales enthusiasm but he has been hitting the ball against the Padres who have arguably the least impressive collection of bullpen talent in the majors. That being said anybody who can provide even a glimmer of hope that Aaron Miles can be off the team when ARAM comes back is A-Ok in my book.

First off, he hasn't been in the organization for 10 years. He was originally with the Padres (1999-2005), then the Phillies and Boston Red Sox. He didn't get into the Cubs organization until last season. But it's great to see a guy who has worked so hard for so long, finally realize his dream and have success.

As far as Hoffpauir is concerned, it's not just that he's a legitimately good major league hitter. it's also that Derek Lee is awful. He is below .200 and he can not justify everyday inclusion in the lineup. I would go with a platoon at first, with lee playing against lefties only, or coming into games late as a defensive replacement.
