Nice post spmack, but to quote one of my favorite lines from the movie Parenthood, "You worry too much". You're only turning 30. Your life will change completely over the next 10 years. I guarantee it.

In fact, if I didn't know you posted here so frequently, I'd be convinced you were a fairly intelligent, normal guy. I'm sure you could fool somebody into thinking that in real life.

Enjoy this time because, believe me, there'll be days after you do have kids when you'll look back to today and think, "Man...those were some fun, relaxing days."

I must say that I've enjoyed our recent history much more than the previous history. It's nice to be off of one of the many "Death Lists" I'm on.
I also must echo the 30 setiments, but you know what? Fuck it dude. Fuck it. Have a jibby and 30 won't bother you.

I think the only posters here before me were spmack, beebo and bigfan. I too go into a depression when I see that I have almost as many posts as those guys combined. Then I see Frank's work and feel much better about myself.

Somebody start up a "history of the board" thread.

I've always thought it would be great to be a cosmologist. A cosmologist can have a proper perspective on all these things we consider important. 30 years is nothing. 10,000 years is not even much. As far as accomplishment, you could maximize your potential and it will not have an ounce of impact on the mechanics of the universe...but neither did Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar or Napoleon. All these things of man are nothing.

Great minds like Einstein made discoveries only in the sense that Columbus discovered America. If it was discovered or not discovered it would still have existed.

In some ways it is the curse of our existence to be self conscious, ego driven and semi intellgent. We know we are here and we think we are the reason that everything else exists, but in the end we know we are nothing.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

How do you find purpose in your little life with this knowledge? Well that is the question for our next lesson.

alright. If we assume Dave is speaking the truth, I have a feeling that I'm going to end up in that boat. I'll be 37 or 38 and meet some smart, hot, 27 year old that meets all the criteria. and then i'll have a heart attack at 41 and be dead.

although there has been a large increase in adolescants, young adults, and 20-30 somethings being afflicted the past 20 years the fact that these patients are/were younger has been great for research.
you cannot prescribe a 60 year old man the same chemo medicines as that of an 18 year old. it would kill him.
you can't test extreme radiation therapies on the same 60 year old man either. it would burn his organs to a crisp.

so, my one contribution to humanity was that when i was sick at 18, i signed off on some "new" chemo drugs and radiation treatments that were above the norm.
because i could, and had doctors available that were allowed to try some things if the patient was willing.
Dr. Bruce Sharon and Dr. Steven Ruben....two jews wow!
there have been side affects, but meh...probably only 5-10% worse than what they would have been anyway.

Super ultra extremely embarrasing burrito admission:
I used to watch DOL back in the 80's and when I was really sick and my mom would have it on the tube. I continued to watch throught the 90's and I got hooked on it for many years, but I'm happy to say that I've broken free from that crap-fest for the past 10 years or so.

Side note:
Biggest Loser host Allison Sweeny is in the second row, third from right and John Aniston of Jennifer fame is in the last row, second from left. I didn't know spmack was in the cast.
