Won't commence today. Make up on 7/30.
Wells tomorrow and Harden Sunday with Marshall being the emergency long man out of the pen over the weekend. Marshall's next start to be on Thursday.
Meanwhile in the farm report, only 15% of Illinois corn has been planted to date due to the extremely wet weather. The usual number is above 80% for this time of year. Amazing what you can pick up on A.M. radio looking for something in the background while you work. Bradley's suspension will be served tomorrow. In a related note, it appears that while Bradley was sitting yesterday, the email notifying the Cubs that his suspension was to be served the following day rolled in during the 7th inning or so. If that's the case, MLB gets their wish granted and he serves two days by default. Ironic, and probably much ado about very little. I believe he should've served it earlier while recovering from minor injuries anyway, but what the hell do I know.

I believe he should have served it today and then asked Bud if that was OK?

Should have served it a few weeks ago, when he wasn't playing anyway, due to injury. It was a selfish decision on his part to appeal. He just didn't want to give up the pay for 2 games. Now when he's healthy and starting to hit better and could help the team, he has to sit out a game. :?

The swine flu must be really affecting my alertness. I swear I just saw Derek Lee get a clutch, 2 out RBI, but I'm sure it must not have really happened.

Kevin Gregg, Latroy Hawkins = BAD
Bobby Scales, A. Soriano = GOOD

That was done the hard way, but we'll take it!

Innings like that are going to happen, there's no way around it. But to come back in the bottom of the ninth and win it is huge for their psyche. Now they can wash their hands of that inning and forget about it.

Love me some Bobby Scales!

Really nice to see Soto get a couple more hits.

Soriano has been the best player on this team so far. I know he gets a lot of crap, but we should be thankful he is on the team, it would not be pretty without him.

Scales and Hoffpauir continue to do well.

I have been impressed by his defense this year. Not gold glove, but he made a nice catch today on the first batter and has actually hit cut off men this year, against SD it led directly to a run down and an out.

I think Soriano has his legs working again. When he is healthy,he is still an offensive force. A few months ago,I was laughed at and verbally abused (on here) for saying the Cubs should give The Hoff a shot. So far,so good. Now they need to bring up Jake Fox....What more does that guy need to do? I think the Cubs are waiting for inter-league play, than will call him up.

Where are you going to play Fox tho? That seems to me to be the problem.

Im glad he went from terrible to bad...but the bar is pretty low when your applauding hitting the cut off man.

Yea...the Cubs really screwed up by getting rid of Wood & Derosa. No doubt they regret these moves now.
Why the hell did Lou leave Gregg in the game after he gave up 2 HR's, and 2 hits, and then was hit by the ball on his pitching hand??? Then during the post game press conference he defended Gregg saying that because it wasnt a save situation that he didnt have enougn adreneline...and that he hasn't pitched in a while. What??? Are you serious??? Unbelievable...
I am a big fan of Lou's, but I see a little too much of Dusty Baker in him.
I hope Ryno is ready to take over the Major League club next year!!!

I think I read that Wood's ERA is over six. He's not exactly Fireman of the Year material so far.
DeRosa? Hard to argue that one, but it's a moot point and an old topic. Scales is doing jim fucking dandy so far making Hendry look good via serendipity. Nice when that works out for your team.
