wut...all drafts are basically the same. the difference is in how long it takes the player to be useful in the major league of the respective sport. in the nfl you draft the best player over need 9/10...at least in the first 2-3 rounds.

baseball's different in that you're drafting kids a lot of times when they're 18-19 years old, and they're "prospects". it's a system. but you still draft who you think is best over what you need.

Besides Carlos Quentin, you have to wonder what is really to build around? Beckham looked really good in spring training, but is unproven to date at the major league level. Ramirez is either starting slow again, before heating up, or the league figured him out. Thome is gone after this season. Dye will be gone after this season, if not the trade deadline. Fields looks like he's gonna strike out 150 or more times and plays mediocre defense-at best and Diane Viciedo not looking major league ready. Plus, the two young pitchers they were counting on (Danks and Floyd) look like anything but studs of late. Can't hold too much of this on Ozzie. When you have an ownership that trims about 30-40 million from the payroll and can't pull of a decent trade, the blame belongs with Reinsdorf and Williams.
