They had Danks scouted pretty good. They were all turning on those inside pitches.

This team sucks right now.

I don't know what is going on with Danks but the sooner he removes his head from his ass the better.

It doesn't matter if they call it Rogers Centre or its former name SkyDome, that ballpark continues to be a "House of Horrors" for the Chicago White Sox. John Danks couldn't get a single out in the bottom 4th, and the Blue Jays, wearing the 1977 retros, hit #50 like a cheap suit. Once again, another pitcher the Sox had NEVER heard of, Brett Cecil(?), gave the Sox hitters fits! Brett Cecil? As Jimmy Piersall would say, who the hell is he? :? :?

I will be the first meathead on record tonight.

Kenny Williams did absolutely nothing in this offseason to plug the holes the Sox had in 2008. He caught lightning in a bottle with Ramirez, Quentin, Danks and Floyd and probably bragged how clever he was since Detroit sucked last year after he said "they would now be able to better compete with the Sox" after acquiring Willis and Cabrera.

This team can't hit. I've seen College baseball games with better hitters. The pitchers have either been figured out, or they pitched out of their minds in 2008.

This season SEEMS to be a wasted one, but I can't totally go all in yet.

Ranger, talk me off the ledge (again).

I think you mean beat liked a rented mule or worn out like a cheap suit. If you are combining both to save space, I'm impressed.

Country, Danks got beat up like a government mule, worn out like a cheap suit, whatever the case might be. It's the fourth straight clunker for the lefty who helped get the Southsiders to the American League Central title.

No no no

I am not going to take little shots at the Sox this year (I will wait till the end at take one big swing) but you cant use the dome stadium excuses anymore. I thought when they went to TB this year and won that was done? Or can we add this to the list of Sox Nation Enemics?

Besides Buehrle,(who got beat in his last start) the Sox starters haven't been able to throw anything but a fit. This team will be lucky if it finishes 3rd in a bad division. Might as well try trading guys like Dye and see if they can get any young talent to build with. Too bad Diane Viciedo hasn't panned out. Fields looks like he's shaky over at 3rd with almost 40 strikeouts already, plus his usual defensive mediocrity. back up the truck...

Looks like the bullpen is going to have to make this 1 run stand up. Why did they pull Colon so early?

Hate to see such a strong outing by Colon wasted.

I think in every start except the one in Baltimore, he's kept them in it.

This offense is pathetic. The only one worthwhile at the plate right now is Paulie.

Insert your own punchline, but according to Comcast SportsNet's Chris Boden, Colon had an upset stomach, Keyser. That explained why he only pitched 5 innings and got a no-decision when Scott Linebrink couldn't hold the 1-0 lead in the bottom 8th. Meanwhile, Robert Ray nipped & tucked (get it?) the White Sox offense to sleep in the longest outing in his short career. He went 8 innings, allowing only 3 hits & that 1 run in the 1st inning was unearned. Although he doesn't spell his name the same, the Toronto starter this afternoon has the same sounding name as Robert Rey, the plastic surgeon from E!'s "Dr. 90210". I think it's safe to say that the Sox offense needs to see a doctor ASAP, and I don't mean tomorrow's starter, Roy Halladay either.

This team really is garbage from top to bottom.
I was listening to The Score last night and they mentioned the blame should begin to fall on Kenny's shoulders.
I have to agree and feel this team is trying to get by on the cheap. If that's the case, give me some discounted tickets.
This team will be nothing better than .500 so we'd better find something else to watch.

Really? Good for the SCORE...a little journalistic integrity goes a long way.

What the hell happened to Gavin Floyd man?
This is his first season after pitching over 100 innings, last year being over 200 innings so maybe that has something to do with it. He's still in the low 7's for K/9, I think it was something like 6.3? last couple years. His K/BB is actually lower than last couple years too. But his OBP, SLG and OPS (against) are all higher.
So, what's going wrong, is it fatigue from last year? Is it just a small sample size?

He's pitching like shit, whatever it is.

Either way, tough to win when you only score 2 runs.

Cna't blame it on the run support. It's tough to win when you give up 6 in 5 (today) 8 in 5 (the 11th) 6 in 5 (the 5th) 5 in 4.1 (4/24) and 6 in 5 (4/13). Can't blame those on run support (but I think he did win the one on the 13 aginst Detroit).

Unfortunately, Floyd's [2008] season was mostly an illusion, one the Sox shouldn't plan on seeing again. Begin with Floyd's lucky .259 opponents' average on balls in play, which suppressed his hits allowed; mix in league-average strikeout and walk rates, fly-ball tendencies and a correspondingly high homer rate, a complete inability to hold runners (a major league-high 37 steals allowed against just five men caught stealing), and a ton of run spport (5.9 R/G), and you've got a 17-game winner headed for a rude awakening in 2009.

I think 2008 saw a lot of fluke pitching performances. Other examples would be Joe Saunders and Cliff Lee. Despite Dohn Janks' problems, though, I expect him to have a better year than Floyd.
