Seriously, why not re-sign him if he's that unwanted around the league. You get him for cheap and he's a good backup who knows the system. Hell, even if you call him the 3rd stringer I don't care. If Cutler got hurt I wouldn't be that upset if he went in for a couple games.

Cannot play wit em, cannot win with em, cannot coach wit em, can't do it. I've seen enough of Rex to say no thank you. I'd rather go into the season with Hanie.

That's scaring me unless Hanie is actually decent. At least with Rex he knows the plays and players and would be able to play a competent NFL game (for a backup at least). I'm sure they could reel him back too and only have him throw safer passes if he's in. For the price it seems like a no risk situation for a backup.

I would have said the same thing last year, but when he came in when Orton was hurt, he didn't look anything like an NFL quarterback.

True he didn't look good but I'd still say he gives the Bears a better chance of winning a couple of games (due to injury) than Hanie don't you? Of course I'll take another decent backup but just having Hanie scares the hell out of me. Who is their 3rd stringer now then?

I was starting to think he would be a serviceable backup, then I remembered all the fumbled snaps.

He sucks. After 6 years he sucks. He won't get better, he won't improve, he wasn't even serviceable last year. He is not a decent back up. He may know the plays too bad he can't execute. A change of scenery is the only hope for him. He will fail here again. He had what 6 good games and that was a facade. He sucks. Sucks. SUCKS!!!!!!!

I seriously don't understand how a single person could think Rex Grossman is an NFL QB. I mean how much more do you need to see? Rex has been playing QB since he was 10 years old, and he still cant take a snap and trips over his own feet. I also dont understand how the Bears could start him for 3 years when he was the laughing stock of the NFL for years.

Jay is our Quarterback...

How's this for an NFL resume? Was the starting quarterback for a Bears' team that went to the Super Bowl in 2006, lost his starting job and was injured to boot in 2007, and was Kyle Orton's backup in 2008. Now, Rex Grossman isn't anyone's quarterback...for now. How the mighty have fallen!

Rex is after the Doug Flutie-Henry Burris crown of former Bears QB's who go to another league and make good.

there are six teams...

I'm saying he's no one's quarterback...for now. With QB depth so awful around the NFL, some team will take a flyer on Rex Grossman, but it might be near the end of some team's training camp or after the season starts before Rex gets another chance...

I was referring to shark.

Now here is one for you...Are you understanding Shark or the part about me being confused by Shark?

I was trying to answer the question as best I could, Spaulding, about Rex Grossman's future or maybe lack thereof...

Im not a Grossman ALS member, and I never was, but I would take him as our 3rd string QB in a heartbeat over Brett Basanez. He probably is even a better QB than Caleb Hanie (sorry meatballs). With all the Cutler hoopla, no one is talking about how screwed this team is if Cutler goes down early in the season.

I said it as soon as we got Cutler. We should bring Rex back. It's a no brainer. He doesn't have any options to compete anywhere. You can get him for nothing. He knows Turner's system. There is no back up out there that would be better for the Bears than Rex. We don't have a legit back up now.

At this point, I truly believe they should call Mike Brown.

He was one of my favorite players. As much as it pains me, that ship has sailed my friend, let him go.

Always tough to say goodbye!!

With the price Grossman and Brown currently sit at, I think it's worth having them on the roster. I agree I don't think either will be back... but I do think they provide some stability to otherwise questionable roster spots.

Disclaimer: I'm likely the president of the Grossman ALS. I actually wasn't a big Mike Brown fan, but I'm real worried about our secondary.
