Cubs have left runners on in every inning. Peavy has had the strikeout working, but lots of runners. Hoff can't hit a breaking ball, and Miles is just bad.

Well tonight should end the talk of Hoff being a starter. 3 strikeouts, all on breaking balls.

What a surprise, Miles leaves 2 more on base.

102 pitches for Peavy. It will be interesting to see what Bud decides to do. I think he's done and Peavy gets pinch hit for.

Do they score more runs this series than they did the last one? I'm beginning to wonder.

Good thing we have a lefty in the bullpen who can get a lefty out. I don't think Cotts has retired the first batter he has faced yet this season.

The Cubs look just awful at the plate.

The book on Hoffpauir is the same as Soriano - just give them a steady diet of sliders and you'll be fine.

I went to the movies last night, so I did not see this first game. But striking out against Peavy, is nothing new. He leads the league in strikeouts after all. There is no book on Hoffpauir that says he can't hit a slider. he hits sliders just fine. He might miss a sharp breaking slider that is thrown by a cy young caliber pitcher, but thats nothing to be ashamed of.

Yeah, you know, except that one chapter of him being a minor leaguer until he was nearly 30.

Dont worry, Derrek Lee says the cubs are not playing that bad.....and that is why the need to trade the double play machine.

Watching these guys try to hit sliders or eating White Castle Sliders give me the same results... a roaring case of the green apple quick step.

I know injuries are a huge part of the struggles, but its about time someone got fired. This team needs a kick in the ass, big time. I have said since spring training that Hendry fucked this team up. He bought into Fontenot being good, He brought in Miles. He didn't acquire a real backup 3rd basemen. He left the bullpen without a lefty. He really needs to be makiing calls to fix this mess. If they don't make the playoffs, I would be firing his ass if I'm the new owner.

Can't argue that. I think both Jim & Lou will be gone. Lou might retire before they dump him. I know Jake Fox can't field, but man, they have to try something!!
Especially before interleague play start's up. Milton Bradley has been shockingly bad.

Awful baseball right now.

After losing so many in a row, they are lucky to still be only 4 games back.

sadly their pitching has done a pretty good job during this losing streak. if they could score more than THREE runs in the last 5 games they couldve probably won them.

Where's Elmhurst Steve been? He needs to let everybody know that its all sunshine and roses on the Northside!

The Padres suck, and yes Peavy is good but this series has been painful to watch. I thought the Sox went thru a tough offensive stretch. This is every bit as bad, and maybe worse.

I would say it is worse. Besides Peavy, they have been losing to shit. Carpenter is good, but it was his first start back. Wainwright is ok, not great. The guy last night is a joke. No team that considers themselves a World Series contender should lose 2 of 3 to the Padres, that can't happen, even if your injured. The Cubs still have a better team than them with all the injuries.

Shit? It could have been Carpenter's first start in a decade and he wouldn't be "shit". And Wainwright is much better than you give him credit for.

This sure is a shitty stretch for the Cub. There is no reason they should have looked so pathetic, last night, against that junk-balling Greer. That guy couldn't bust a grape, but made the Cub look like a big ol' bag of suck.
Oh, and D lee, get your head in the fucking game. The next time you go hard into second will be your first. You are a pud.
I know he was not trying to break up a double play but, he never goes hard into second, ever. He is a pussy, a 6' 5" pussy.

Lee has always been a pussy. I think he is gone at seasons end, if not sooner, but I hope they don't think Fox or Hoff can be their 1st basemen.

Theriot really needs to quit pulling the ball. I see Lee was a late scratch again. He really needs to quit being a bitch about this neck injury, or maybe he was traded, still waiting for a reason for the late scratch.

Yes, Theriot needs to remember his MO is Punch and Judy. Lou needs to realize what he has and not try to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Theriot was fine the way he was. There are plenty of other players on this team that should be hitting for power and aren't. Ryan is not one of them.
The construction of this team fucking blows, Mister Jim.

Lee is feeling ill, thats the reason for the late scratch. I'm guessing he was watching tape of the Cubs road trip.
