You can't really deal anyone of value now. Swisher won't go through waivers. You could trade Konerko if someone really wanted him, but what would you get in return? Anything is possible, but I'd have to think this is it.

According to Kenny Williams, center field is the easiest outfield position to play (heard on the pre-game). So that's nice.

You don't get some of the funky angles and slices/hooks of the ball you can get in the corner OF spots, but you have to a cover a mile and half more.

Jr will be fine in CF for home games...but not for certain road games.

I have always been a big fan of Griffey and I love the fact tat he is with a contender now, but this deal still makes no sense to me.

IMO this makes the case even stronger that the window of opportunity for this club is closing quickly and they had better win it again this year.

Oh, they were in there. I found that site a while back, but most of the posts seemed idiotic, plus there were too many to even keep up with. With the big news yesterday, I figured it was worth a check. By the time I read a few posts, there was another whole page of posts. They did have some breaking news, but a lot of it was crap.

I don't get this one. Why do all the shittiest defenders get thrown on the corners?

Maybe in CF, if you ARE very good or athletic you can HELP much more compared to in the corners by making some incredible plays with room to roam, but it is also the easiest at the same time? That's all I can think of, that it's a position with a very high ceiling but also a high floor.

I would imagine that since he has a perfect angle, he can get better jumps on balls hit out there, but his lack of speed, and broken down body will probably be a greater negative.

Masset just got off the DL on Sunday and lowered his ERA to 1.15.

Good point, Frank. Cueto's fourth in the league in ERA. Masset doesn't have enough innings to qualify.

Did I see that Dustiny let/made Harang pitch after a 2 hour rain delay (again)?!? Odds of him going on the DL in the next month.....even money.

Harang convinced him to let him pitch to ONE batter to get the win.

Amazing how many folks here want to see Dusty fail.

Dusty ruined a good thing in chicago. I do want to see him fail, NSFAKEJ, because if he fails, it makes it easier for my team to win. They are in the Cubs division, whiner.

The Brewers, Cards, and Cubs (yes, I said it :P) are better than the Reds. And Dusty Baker isn't even the best MLB manager in Ohio.

I had no problems with it. Harang is on my fantasy team. That extra 1/3 of an inning was big for me.

What the hell are you babbling about? yeah, I want Dusty to fail... and La Russa, Russell, Macha, cooper.... and all the other NL managers. I want them all to fail. Because I want my team to win.

Babbling?

I just found it ironic that you called me a whiner because I pointed out that there seems to be several folks here who want to see Dusty ruin the arms of Reds pitchers, yet it's you who who won't stop whining about Dusty.

Why do you think the Cubs are better? Starting Pitching? Hitting? Relief pitiching? Bench? All four?

Just curious how you've come to that conclusion based on what you've seen the first two months of the season.

Who is whining about Dusty? You're missing the point. Of COURSE Cubs fans want a division rival to fail. To think otherwise is downright ignorant. What, you think Cubs fans want their competition to succeed?
NSFAKEJ, you sound kind of dumb here dude.

Re-read what I wrote. Of course I understand that any fan wants his team's competitors to lose, (unless they are playing a division game against a team higher in the standings).

There's a big difference between that and predicting a manager wrecks the careers of the starting staff. Lou used to manage the Reds and now manages the competition, but I would never wish he ruins the careers of Z, Lilly, Harden, et. al.

Thankfully, I didn't do that.

The guy has a great slider. He won again last night and is 4-0 with a 0.78 ERA. Looks like the Reds gave up nothing but got a bit more than nothing in return.

I liked Masset. He was just so frustrating with his nibbling. I wonder how he would be doing if he played in the Major Leagues.

Yeah I always liked Massett and thought he had good stuff but he was young and they gave up on him too early. Also gave up too much for a way beyond his peak Griffey but nothing we can do about it now. Not a very good trade.

I like Massett and all but his numbers (especially the record) are a little deceiving because he's a middle reliever. If they came as a starter I'd be a little more impressed.

Clayton Richard > Nick Masset as a starter. DJ Carasco > Masset as a middle reliever. Lance Broadway was already traded. Poreda is a #1 pick that they can't and won't give up on yet (for a Peavy maybe). So where exactly would Masset fit in here?
