As soon as a guy on my team acts like a jackass on the field, I'll call him out just the same. So stfu.

You really think that will get 10 games?

I don't know. Z did not bump the umpire, it is pretty clear from the video, the ump was leaning into him when the contact occured. Now the other stuff was pretty childish, but it was funny to see him eject the ump.

Throwing a helmet, ball, etc...just results in a fine. If the umpire claims Zambrano bumped him and a suspension is called for, it will probably be more like 5-6 games. The actions-Zambrano throwing the ump out, will not have any great effect on the suspension, if there is one.

the video clearly showed that the ump was moving into zambrano and they never wouldve touched each other had the ump not done that. in fact carlos was about to walk back to the mound when the ump threw him out for it. its bullshit. brenley even said the ump was the one that initiated the contact. thats why zambrano "threw the ump out of the game" because the umps the one that bumped into him

It's pretty silly to argue that Zambrano does not deserve a suspension. I don't believe he would've gotten a suspension because of the "bump", but the actions afterwards were ridiculous. Throwing your glove and heaving a ball into the outfield was way over the top. He's going to miss 1 or 2 starts, no doubt about it. Arguing that he deserves no penalty is just stupid.

And let the record show, I am a Cubs fan. Im not making an argument just to rip the Cubs like many Sox fans will do. The Cubs just got him back from injury, and he will now probably miss the same amount of time as another DL stint. Thanks Carlos.

I ain't arguing he does not deserve some type of suspension, but I just do not think it will be that long. As Steve said, a lot of the stuff he did was fine worthy, but not suspension worthy.

2 or 3 games tops in my opinion and that wont result in missing a start. he definitely wont miss 2 starts. if you think that deserved 10 games thats insane. bradley got 2 games which was knocked down to 1 for his bump.

Suspensions for starting pitchers are always handed out differently. 2-3 game suspensions are never handed out because the player only takes the field every five games. It will be a minimum of 5 games and possibly 10 (which in actuality will be a 1 or 2 game suspension). I think it could be ten handed out, then he appeals it down to 5. Either way, the whole thing was just stupid, and the guy was safe at the plate.

Yeah he will get 10 and appeal it down to 5. He will miss one start around the middle of June. Frank might get lucky and have it be against the White Stockings.

the play was extremely close. it couldve gone either way. and in real time up close he looked out. i dont blame carlos for being upset. he beat morgan to the plate, he blocked the plate and he thought he was out. everyone thought he was out. carlos has a temper. i dont excuse what he did. it was a tantrum and was unecessary but you know what you get with him. we had the benefit of replays and even then it couldve been called either way so saying its stupid he was safe is a moot point.

id also like to add that josh beckett got 6 games for throwing at a hitter starting a bench clearing incident earlier this year. he got 6 before any appeal. i think thats a worse infraction than carlos being bumped by an ump and then throwing a ball into the outfield

I can't wait for the conspiracy theories when it comes out that Mark Carlson is a die Sox hard white fan.

Zambrano will get suspended 10 days, two starts. There was barely any contact between Bradley and the umpire and Bradley still got 2 games initially. Plus by throwing the ump out and tossing the ball in the stands, Carlos will be punished for acting like an ass...inciting the crowd MLB will say (remember dusty's tantrum?)

Carlos and the cubs will appeal, it will drag on for a month then in July it will be reduced to a 6 or 7 game suspension, one start.

Marshall or Wells will make a spot start, Zambrano gets a nice break in the heat of the summer and the Cubs go from there.

Not my point in the slightest you obtuse idiot. The point is the Cubs aren't your team and you revel in whatever misfortunes they incur; self inflicted or otherwise. No where did I mention the Sox and your antipathy towards all things Cubs is quite evident. This has nothing to do with your team on so many levels, it's hilarious... and you still fail to see that. Shut the fuck up indeed.

Agreed. He deserves a suspension for his actions even without the contact. The fact that the contact was somewhat contrived will drive down the suspension to one start upon appeal.

The only thing that was hilarious is the childish way Zambrano comported himself yesterday on the field. Its sad and pathetic that a professional athletle conducts himself in that manner seemingly once or twice a season. Its embarrassing and pathetic. Then again, it is the Cubs. If the shoe fits.

Make up your mind...was it hillarious? or embarrassing and pathetic? As much as you are NOT a Cubs fan, but a Cubs detractor, I have no doubt the true answer is the former, rather than the latter. As a Cubs fan, I find Zambrano's actions selfish, unprofessional and regrettable. But I understood that it came from frustration. He cares about whether the team wins or loses and sometimes allows his frustration (when things are going wrong) to get the best of him. Why don't you worry about your own team that is 4 games under .500 and can't get players to okay trades that would send them to the Sux.
