Here's a link with a little more information on the alleged NCAA violation in question at Memphis...

Read shark's link where it mentions Rose by name. There was only 1 player that was 1 and done for 07-08 season which was Rose

What seperates Rose from Bonds, Clemens or any of the Roid Boys? They all cheated for their own benefit.

Guys, John Calipari, who was Derrick's head coach at the time of the alleged NCAA no-nos involving the Memphis basketball program, plans on fully cooperating with the investigation. Based on what I've read before posting the link to the Memphis Commercial Appeal story last night, Memphis could be forced to forfeit its 38 wins and the runner-up to Kansas if they're found guilty in the probe. They're supposed to meet with the NCAA bigboys late next week, while Derrick himself has denied it was him who cheated on his SAT. He's also not commenting on the still developing story.

Is there not any consequences that Calipari could face if they are found guilty of this infraction? If not, that would be a pretty sweet deal for him. Build up an average program by illegal activities, sign a huge contract with a historical powerhouse elite program and leave the old school to crash and burn.

Calipari should be banned for at least a year, if not longer. You always hear about the schools getting penalized and not the coach.

Why should I care about this? Not a sarcastic question, but a serious one.

Why should you care about anything that happens in sports then, right? Why do we take the time to post opinions on topics? Because we feel strongly about a particular issue. It may not mean anything to you on this issue but it may to others. It is not neccessary for you to come on here and downplay or belittle anything someone says that you don't care about.

I feel strongly about coaches who use teenagers for thier own selfish agenda. On the other side, I hate to see kids walk through and get offered free college education and get handed all the money in the world, just because they can play a sport. Our society has definitely fallen down a vicious cycle on how we value successful people. I mean look how the president Obama subjected himself to commercials with Paris Hilton, the biggest celebrity slut around. It just makes me sick. How about reognizing the real heros that build the backbone of our great country. Teachers, law enforcement, doctors, maintenance workers, garbage workers. The list can go on and on.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy sports like the rest of you. I played collegiate basketball and have been part of sports all of my life. But sometimes you just have to take a step back and look at the big picture and say to yourself, "What has happened to how we view sports figures and view them as Gods".

C'mon, you don't actually believe star athletes make it through college with no special treatment. Open your eyes a little bit. Is this story surprising at all? I would be more surprised if a story came out about a star pro athlete that made it legitimately all the way through college with no special treatment.

According to today's Sun-Times, Simeon High School may be penalized as a result of the alleged cheating scandal involving Memphis and Derrick Rose. The two IHSA Class "AA" titles Rose & Simeon won in 2006 & 2007 could be stripped, says the Sun-Times' Michael O'Brien on Page 3.

Derrick Rose isn't the only player linked to a scandal...There are ongoing NCAA probes at USC involving Reggie Bush with their football program & O.J. Mayo, now with the Memphis Grizzlies, linked to a scandal involving onetime former Bulls' head coach Tim Floyd and his program.

Where did I say that I didn't believe that any of this goes on? Of course I know it does, I have been a witness to it personally. I was actually commenting on how out of control it has gotten. I would like to see sticter penalties on the collegiate level. Because the players whose lives could be ruined are that of an 18 year old who may be easily misled to making the wrong choice , or have thier choice made for them, due to the greediness of adults. Whereas, on the professional level, I have less compassion of the adults who make the wrong decision.

Why not ban the coaches who were running the team durring the scandalous times? Nobody answered my question. Is Calipari open for disciplinary actions?

I would like to think that at a school rich in basketball tradition such as Kentucky, this scandal can't be good for first year head coach John Calipari. This despite the fact the school paid him a lot of money to lure him away from Memphis before the scandal made news late Wednesday night.
