That dude is a great actor, the ball clearly hit the bat.

Clearly. I'm not sure if that makes him a wuss, or a punk. Either way, it's a pretty pathetic display. Wow.

Maybe next time up he'd like to see what it really feels like to get one in the head?

MLB should fine people for that. It's one thing to let the ump think a pitch buzzed your uniform, but dropping to the ground and pretending you got beaned? That's uncalled for.

No problem with him acting. He was on the ground and heard the ump give him 1st base. He had to do it that way. But once he got to 1st base he could have given up the act. It's over. You got it. He knows there will be a replay. He looked like a douche bending over at 1st and acting like he was shook up.

I don't think he was gonna act until he heard the ump give him 1st. It wasn't even close. He thought the ump saw it hit the bat.

That was a blown call. You could tell when it happened that it hit the bat. If it hit him in the head, the helmet would of went flying and he would of been face down in the dirt. Horrible job by all 4 umps.

Could be, but yeah, once the ump sends you to first, he's not going to reverse it. So just go over there. He practically had the trainer asking him who the president is.

I suppose if he did just sprint to first, the Cubs might have asked the ump to ask the other umps if they saw it. But that would be pretty unusual for another ump to overrule a call like that.

I'm surprised the Cubs pitcher didn't bitch. Nobody saw it better than him. Actually, he must not have seen it or he would have bitched. Ruined his perfect game.

Perfect games have to be 9 innings complete Beardown.

No shit. I meant it ruined his chances at a perfect game.

That makes sense. Man, wouldn't it be boss to see a rookie who never made an opening day roster throw a no no?

He induced the double play so he still has faced the minimum.

The worst part is, knowing Bobby Cox, he'll probably retaliate.

I don't think so. I just had this conversation with the wife. Escobar told everyone that it hit his bat I bet. Bragged about it. Besides you don't retailiate in a situation where he clearly wasn't throwing at the batter.

Of course he told everybody. If I were him, after a pitch was thrown, I would have told Lee and the 1st base umpire. Wouldn't have mattered. Couldn't be changed. He knows everybody will see it on the replay. I'm sure the Cubs got word. Somebody was watching in their clubhouse.

And because these are the Cubs, there has to be drama in the late innings. A guy with Wells' ERA shouldn't be winless after four starts and in danger of having the bullpen barf up the lead in his fifth.

What a shame. This bullpen needs some serious help.

If I were Wells I would be the first player in history to demand a NO "no trade clause" screw the Peavy's and the Oswalt's of the world if you play for these losers.

Nothing like a closer with no out pitch, and who is 91 on the gun. Great job of catching the ball Soto, you fat fuck. Marmol also gets blame, throw a strike, and forget the slider when your 2-0 or 3-0, common sense.

Not sure what the Cubs brass saw in Gregg, he has yet to show me anything....even when he picks up a save there is usually a hard hit ball or two.

The worst thing that happened is Francoeur swung thru that first fastball, Gregg probably thought he could blow it past him again. BIG MISTAKE.

Wow that sucks for Wells, I can't stand Gregg and if I was a Cub fan I'd be furious having him as the closer still. He doesn't have any stuff at all and has been hit around all season. I haven't seen much of Wells pitching but his ERA and stats look great so far. Is this just a flash in the pan or is he supposed to be a good pitching prospect? Any reason to hope for his success to continue at the big league level?

Why can't I be prescient about useful stuff like winning lottery numbers. Noooooo... wasted on irritating, underperforming asshats like this team. If it isn't one thing, it's another. Fuck me. :x

You're kidding me? I stayed with the Sox after he lost the "no no" and chalked up a Cubs win. Reading this is the only way I knew it was tied.
